Trailer Repair Technician
Job Description Job Description Summary The Trailer Repair Technician is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing commercial dry van and refrigerated trailers. This role ensures equipment is road‐ready through structural, mechanical, electrical, and cosmetic repairs in a fast‐paced shop environment. Key Responsibilities Perform repairs on dry van and reefer trailers including brakes, suspensions, axles, landing gear, doors, floors, and roofs Diagnose and repair electrical systems , ABS, lighting, and wiring issues Conduct welding and fabrication on steel and aluminum components Repair or replace air lines, valves, hoses, and pneumatic systems Perform DOT‐compliant inspections and document all findings Complete floor and roof repairs , crossmembers, side panels, and structural components Install and repair reefer units , doors, seals, and hardware (if applicable) Use shop tools, welders, grinders, plasma cutters, and diagnostic equipment safely Maintain accurate work orders, parts usage, and repair notes Follow all shop safety, quality, and production standards Required Skills & Qualifications Experience repairing commercial trailers (dry van, reefer, flatbed, etc.) Strong mechanical aptitude with knowledge of brakes, suspensions, electrical, and structural systems Ability to weld (MIG preferred) and perform light fabrication Ability to read and interpret repair manuals, diagrams, and work orders Must be able to lift 50–75 lbs and work in shop or yard environments Valid driver’s license Preferred Experience 1–3 years of trailer repair or heavy‐duty equipment maintenance Experience with reefer units (Thermo King, Carrier) Familiarity with ABS diagnostics and electrical troubleshooting Prior work in a dealership, fleet maintenance shop, or OEM‐style repair facility Work Environment Full‐service trailer shop with welding, fabrication, and diagnostic equipment Exposure to outdoor weather when working in the yard EOE/M/F/D/V Company Description BRI Staffing is a people‐first organization built on honesty, accountability, and genuine partnership.
