Complete Demolition Services (CDS) is a highly-regarded regional demolition contractor based in Louisville, KY, and we’re looking for a Heavy Equipment Mechanic - Demolition Fleet to keep our fleet of demolition equipment and trucks running, safe, and job-ready. Working primarily out of the CDS shop, you’ll diagnose, repair, and maintain excavators, skid steers, loaders, dozers, and support vehicles so crews start every job with reliable (and good looking) machines. Equipment uptime is production. Your work directly protects the schedule, the budget, and crew safety. If you know diesel and hydraulics and take pride in a well-run shop, we want to talk to you. What You’ll Do • Diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy demolition equipment (excavators, skid steers, loaders, dozers) and support vehicles • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance to maximize equipment uptime • Inspect equipment for safety and readiness before deployment • Troubleshoot engine, hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical issues; replace and repair components • Perform welding and fabrication as needed • Respond to field breakdowns to minimize downtime • Maintain accurate service records, parts usage, and maintenance schedules; track repairs to the correct equipment and job • Keep the shop, tools, and parts inventory clean, safe, organized, and stocked What You Bring • 3 years maintaining and repairing heavy equipment, diesel engines, or a commercial fleet • High school diploma or equivalent (trade or vocational training in diesel, heavy equipment, or hydraulics a plus) • Valid driver’s license (required) • Ability to diagnose and repair diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical, undercarriage, and braking systems • Ability to read diagnostic tools, schematics, and equipment manuals and keep accurate service records • Preferred: demolition or construction equipment experience, welding and fabrication skills, CDL, ASE or diesel certifications, hydraulic and electrical systems training The Work Environment This is a primarily shop-based role at the CDS yard, with exposure to noise, fumes, fluids, dust, and moving equipment, plus occasional field or roadside repairs throughout the Louisville, KY metro area and surrounding region ( company vehicle provided for field calls ). Early start times are common, with occasional after-hours or weekend repairs to keep equipment job-ready. The work is physical: you’ll lift and move 50 lbs. repeatedly; bend, kneel, crawl, and work under and around heavy equipment; stand for full shifts; and wear required PPE for the entire shift.
