The Fellowship curriculum is designed to prepare fellows with the research training and skills in research operations and administration necessary to excel in a leadership role within an academic emergency department immediately upon graduation. The incumbent will: • Develop a specific area of expertise and emergency medicine research focus. • Develop knowledge and skills related to research collaboration and communication within a translational research environment. • Develop skills needed to successfully assume more complex, high-level leadership roles within emergency departments, medical schools and hospital systems as their career progresses. The Department of Emergency Medicine has an extensive research portfolio with a wide range of research areas including emergency ultrasound; acute neurological illness and injury such as acute stroke, status epilepticus, and traumatic brain injury; critical illness; and emerging infectious diseases. The Research Fellow will work closely with a core group of established investigators and a team of coordinators in the Department. In addition, funding and resources are available to develop pilot projects and obtain the necessary skills to establish an independent research career.
