Job Description Job Description PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS POSITION: 1. Responsible for establishing relationships with outside trucking companies to move excess freight. 2. Responsible for maintaining appropriate information for each company used. 3. Responsible for tracking and maintaining contact with all outside trucking companies used. 4. Responsible for maximizing the commission percentage on each load. 5. Responsible for executing contracts on each load moved. 6. Responsible for all communication with outside carriers. 7. Responsible for advertising available loads to outside companies. 8. Responsible for coordinating advance payments for outside trucking companies. 9. Responsible for ensuring that all outside trucking companies are safe, legal and insured. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 1. Establish regular and consistent communications with outside trucking companies to encourage them to take our loads. 2. Make sure the carrier is legally and safely able to haul our freight by checking their Safe-Stat information and that it meets the minimum safety requirements as per the attached Safe-Stat Procedure. 3. Enter the insurance expiration date and all truck and driver information in the "Nam" screen in your computer. 4. Create and maintain a file for each carrier to include: all hard copy insurance certificates, authority certificates, W-9, and truck and driver information in the file cabinets. Make sure Combined Transport, Inc. or Blackwell Consolidation is named as Additional Insured and the insurance certificates meet the minimum cargo and liability amounts as per the attached Insurance Procedure. 5. Create and maintain an "A" list for carriers that haul for our company during peak months (summer) as well as other times of the year. You should be aware of their traffic lanes; where they want to go and what they want to haul. 6. Create and maintain a "B" list for those carriers that only haul for us during certain seasons (winter). 7. Continually review the "inbound broker list" to determine the outside trucks under our loads that will be entering your area. 8. Continually review the "outbound broker list" to determine the loaded trucks you need to stay in contact with until delivery. 9. Log all "available" trucks on the "truck list" daily. 10. Coordinate the nearest truck to pick up the freight in order to maximize our percentage of commission. 11. Produce and send a FAX or EMAIL of the rate, pickup and delivery agreement to the carrier for signature and return before dispatching the truck. 12. Maintain communication with all carriers under dispatch by us on a daily basis. Ensure that all loads are still on time and notify Sales personnel as soon as possible after determining a truck is falling behind schedule. 13. Post any loads that you do not have a truck for on the approved internet sites, and on email. Use TK Function processor LOAD screen to post to DAT, email, and web site.
