Registered Nurse- Home Dialysis

MRI Technologist II or III

Job Summary: The MRI Tech III possess an advanced skill level and can function within the MRI department, performing a variety of responsibilities and additional tasks. In addition to meeting all the criteria of an MRI tech II, the MRI tech III performs four additional advanced responsibilities within the department as laid out in the position summary below. The MRI Technologist III must adapt to changes in technology, new imaging techniques, safe and effective imaging practices for patients with and without medical implants. These implants include pacemakers, nerve stimulation devices and electronic pumps that can cause severe injury and or death within the MRI environment. This position requires independent judgement, a comprehensive knowledge of MRI physics, biological effects to human tissue, medical implants and the ability to enforce MRI safety. The candidate must possess inherent compassion for patients with claustrophobia and provide mechanisms to assist the patient in overcoming their discomfort. The MRI Tech III operates under the general supervision of the Radiologist and the MRI Supervisor. Education: Graduate from school of Radiologic Technology approved by CAHEA/JRCT. Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), ARMRIT, or certified by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB), ARRT MRI Certification required. Experience: 5 years of progressive clinical experience in MR. Demonstrated superior technical knowledge and expertise in cross sectional anatomy. Knowledge/Special Skills: For staff holding an ARRT license, advanced MRI specific certification by ARRT is required. CE compliant according to governing body guidelines. BLS certified. Safety requirements for employment in the MRI department: MRI scanners use strong magnetic fields to obtain images. All staff working in the MRI department must be screened prior to hiring to ensure their safety in the work environment. Medical implants with components that are not permitted into the magnetic field may restrict an applicant from working in the environment safely. The medical implants that should be considered prior to application include, but may not be limited to, all electronic devices (e.g., pumps, pacemakers, hearing devices and all devices run with a battery or Bluetooth).
