The Tool & Die Repair Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining metal tools, including customer- and company-owned dies, molds, trim dies, and fixtures. This position ensures the proper preservation and repair of tooling used in production while adhering to safety standards and company policies. This position is critical to ensuring that production tooling is maintained in optimal condition, allowing for efficient and high-quality manufacturing operations. Job Duties and Responsibilities Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain dies, molds, trim dies, and fixtures used in production. Operate manual lathes, surface grinders, CNC machines, milling machines, welders, and other tool room equipment. Utilize measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, gauges, and tape measures to ensure precision. Conduct preventative maintenance on tooling to reduce downtime and improve production efficiency. Perform minor welding and grinding to repair or modify tooling components. Troubleshoot and repair common die casting issues, such as flash, broken ejector pins, stuck parts, and bent or broken pins. Read, interpret, and work from blueprints, drawings, and specifications to ensure proper tooling adjustments. Safely handle and transport heavy tools and dies using hoists, jib cranes, and other safety lifting devices, including team assists. Document all maintenance and repair activities in accordance with company procedures. Regularly lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 50 pounds. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Comprehensive knowledge of tool and die equipment uses, maintenance, and repair. Journeyman’s License Preferred. OSHA 10 or 30 preferred. Responsibilities: Project Oversight: Oversee the daily operations of larger electrical projects. Plan, organize, and direct labor and materials to meet project schedules. Ensure all installations meet or exceed electrical code standards. Relationship Management: Foster relationships with customers, inspectors, contractors, and peers. Interact effectively with clients, management, and team members. Promote a positive customer service environment and maintain a positive work climate. Quality and Safety: Ensure adherence to standards of quality, safety, and best practices. Monitor and address safety hazards or potential problems with site management. Follow and enforce company policies and guidelines. Labor Management: Schedule and allocate labor as needed for project tasks. Review and monitor labor efficiency, hours, and ratios. Project labor needs for the duration of the project with monthly updates. Manage and track your team’s time ADP and document withs timesheet confirming hours with a signature. Material Management: Track and monitor material costs, storage, consumption, and orders to identify potential issues. Minimize costs and overruns through efficient material management and organization. Submit accurate material request forms to the Project Manager weekly as needed. Documentation: Prepare, review, distribute, and maintain all required installation documentation. Physical Functions: Must hear and see well (either natural or with correction). Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull and reach overhead. Able to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds, with frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Tolerant to prolonged standing and movement on foot. Climb ladders (all types). Complete overhead work for extended periods of time. Responsible for securing tools and materials from storage areas to complete assigned tasks. Repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers. Qualifications: Must have five (5) or more years’ experience/knowledge of electrical construction, design, and cost management as a foreman or in a similar position in Commercial, Institutional, and Industrial environment Have thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction (technology, equipment, methods, etc.) Experience managing mid to high rise building and/or high-end hotel projects is a plus Proficient in Microsoft software (Word, Excel, Outlook) Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment Ability to present self in a professional manner and represent the company image Demonstrated leadership and project success are expected. Ability to work in fast paced environment Are organized, with strong written and verbal communication skills Advanced abilities in reading and interpreting plans and specifications In-depth knowledge of the NFPA codes and has strong problem-solving skills. Proficient knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), local codes and OSHA safety standards. Experience managing crews, material cost control and scheduling.
