Privileges include providing consultation with physicians in other fields regarding mental, behavioral, or emotional disorders, pharmacotherapy, psychotherapy, family therapy, behavior modification, and emergency psychiatry as well as the ordering of diagnostic, laboratory tests, and prescribing medications. Special Criteria: Compensation and Pension evaluation certification completed prior to performing Compensation and Pension examinations. MANDATORY TRAINING: completes all mandatory required training yearly. INTRODUCTION: Practice agreement between and Dr. of the VA Amarillo Healthcare System at Current certification or active participation in the examination process leading to certification in psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology or the American Osteopathic Board of Neurology and Psychiatry, Successful completion of an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or American Osteopathic Association (AOA) accredited post-graduate training program in psychiatry. Be grandfathered in from previous experience, Applicants for initial appointment must be able to demonstrate the provision of inpatient, outpatient, or consultative services for an adequate number of evaluations, assessments or interventions during the past 12 months, or demonstrate successful completion of a hospital-affiliated accredited residency, special clinical fellowship or research. Applicants for renewal of clinical privileges must demonstrate competence and an adequate volume of experience and number of evaluations, assessments or interventions with acceptable results in the privileges requested for the past 24 months based on results of quality assessment/improvement activities and outcome.
