Key Responsibilities of the Associate Chief of Specialty Care Service: Service Leadership and Management: Assist in planning, developing, coordinating, directing, and evaluating the Specialty Care Service for both outpatients and inpatients at VA Central California. Perform high-level management functions for the medical center or at the VISN level by participating in planning and oversight boards, councils, and committees. Program Development and Maintenance: Support the development and maintenance of ongoing programs in the areas of professional peer reviews, organizational improvement, continuing education, scope of practice, clinical privileging, and other quality improvement activities. Direct Patient Care: Provide direct health care to Veterans within the incumbent's area of expertise. Policy Implementation and Compliance: Assist in holding overall responsibility and accountability for the implementation and maintenance of new and established policies. Provide overall direction in the continuous operation of the service line. Monitor and ensure medical staff compliance with agency regulations, medical staff bylaws, The Joint Commission standards, and other applicable regulations.
