Industrial Field Project Estimator/ Project Manager (Lancaster)

Industrial Field Estimator / Project Manager Lancaster, PA About the Opportunity We’re looking for an Industrial Field Estimator / Project Manager who understands how industrial work actually gets built, not just how it looks on a set of plans. This is an estimating-first, cradle-to-grave role supporting industrial installation projects. You’ll take projects from the initial customer conversation and estimate through execution and completion. The work can include industrial piping, structural steel, machinery installation, equipment rigging, maintenance, and repair projects within manufacturing environments. Unlike environments where every project arrives with a complete set of drawings and specifications, some opportunities start with a customer walking around the site and describing what they need. You’ll need the practical knowledge to evaluate that request, determine what labor, materials, equipment, and resources will be required, build the estimate, and then help carry the project through completion. If you understand industrial work, enjoy solving problems in the field, and like owning a project beyond simply putting a number on it, this could be a great fit. What You’ll Do · Develop estimates for industrial projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs · Evaluate project requirements from drawings, specifications, site conditions, and direct customer conversations · Estimate industrial piping, rigging, machinery installation, structural steel, maintenance, and related industrial work · Build scopes and proposals even when complete engineered drawings are not available · Develop and maintain strong customer relationships throughout the project lifecycle · Lead project kickoff activities after work is awarded · Procure and coordinate required project materials · Coordinate activities between field crews, shop operations, shipping, customers, and other project stakeholders · Support onsite project execution and resolve issues as they arise · Manage project documentation, RFIs, proposals, and related communication · Monitor project costs and overall financial performance · Support safety and quality expectations throughout project execution · Remain accountable for projects from the initial estimate through final completion What We’re Looking For We care more about your industrial knowledge and hands-on experience than checking a specific number of years or having a particular degree. The strongest candidates will bring: · Experience estimating work in an industrial or manufacturing environment · Working knowledge of industrial piping, rigging, machinery/equipment installation, structural steel, industrial maintenance, or related scopes · The ability to determine labor, material, equipment, and installation requirements for industrial projects · Experience reading and interpreting project drawings and specifications while also being comfortable estimating work when formal drawings are limited · Experience carrying projects beyond the estimate and supporting their successful execution · Strong problem-solving skills and practical field judgment · Confidence communicating directly with customers · Strong organizational skills and a sense of ownership · Comfort using Excel, email, proposals, ERP/project systems, and other basic business technology · Willingness to learn company-specific systems and processes Formal education can be beneficial, but relevant hands-on industrial experience carries more weight for this position. What Won’t Be the Right Fit This probably isn't the right opportunity if your experience is primarily centered around: · Residential construction · Commercial building construction · HVAC/ductwork estimating without broader industrial mechanical exposure · Project management with little or no estimating responsibility · Estimating roles with no involvement after a project is awarded We need someone who understands the industrial environment and is comfortable estimating the work and helping make sure it gets built successfully. Compensation & Benefits · $90,000–$120,000 base salary, based on experience · Compensation flexibility for candidates bringing substantial relevant experience or customer relationships · Comprehensive benefits · 401(k) with 6% match · Company vehicle · Personal cell phone reimbursement · Minimal travel Schedule Monday through Friday, mixture of office, onsite, and remote. The typical workday is approximately 6:00 AM–3:00 PM, although hours may shift depending on project and field needs. Because this role supports active industrial projects, you'll spend time both working with project information and getting into the field where the work is happening. Why Join? This is an opportunity to become an important part of a growing industrial operation while working on a wide range of projects for manufacturing customers. Rather than being siloed as either an estimator or project manager, you'll have the opportunity to understand the customer's needs, build the estimate, win the work, and stay involved through execution. For someone who enjoys industrial work, variety, customer relationships, and seeing a project through from the first conversation to the finished product, this role offers the chance to truly own the outcome. Additional Job Application Terms This job is part of LinkedIn’s Full-Service Hiring beta program. Eligibility is limited to candidates located in and performing services in the United States, excluding those based in Alaska, Hawaii, Nevada, South Carolina, or West Virginia. We’re committed to making our hiring process as smooth and timely as possible, and we understand that waiting to hear back can add to the anticipation. If you’re a potential fit, our team will reach out within two weeks to progress you to the next stage. If you don’t hear from us in that time, we encourage you to explore other opportunities with our team in the future, and we wish you the very best in your job search.
