PURPOSE: To insure optimum customer service by efficient and cost-effective handling of maintenance issue of trucks and trailers away from the terminals. Assist drivers in troubleshooting and authorize repairs, provide safe, on-time delivery of product. RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Contact Repair shops to determine when a shop can look at the equipment. 2. Communicate with fleet manager as to what is happening with the equipment repairs and load status. 3. Authorize necessary repairs on the road considering both safety and cost. 4. Create purchase orders and provide necessary information for audit purposes. 5. Administrate fleet data base by completing fleet assistance sheets and enter data into computer. 6. Coordinate with other terminals for repairs that can possibly be made by sending a Marten Transport, Ltd. mechanic to the sight. 7. Contact repair shops to determine when equipment will be completed. 8. Manage breakdown information by completing necessary paperwork. 9. Communicate breakdown information to proper supervisors if necessary. 10. Create and maintain repair order file. 11. Direct all accident related information to Liability Claims. 12. Monitor the retrieval of warranty parts to be returned to Marten Transport, Ltd. for warranty repairs. 13. Authorize driver accommodations when truck is in the shop. 14. Trouble shoot basic mechanical problems working through driver or road service at tractor location. 15. Manage budget within required guidelines of cost and safety. 16. Other duties as assigned. RELATIONSHIPS: Daily interactions with drivers, vendors, service managers and all levels of Management. ABILITIES/SKILLS DESIRED: Knowledge in maintenance for a tractor, trailer and reefer unit. Job Details General Description The primary purpose of this position is to develop and evaluate manufacturing procsses and systems which integrate human work factors, quality control, inventory control, logistics and material flow with the focus upon employee safety, quality of the product, cost reduction, as well as improve sustainability and develop best practices within the production process Esstenial Duties & Responsibilities Develop expertise on manufacturing technology Develop expertise on the product parameter and support the Techical Customer Service Team for product development and improvement Identify Key Process Parameters and impact on the product parameters Conduct PFMEA Write process descriptions and work instructions for operations Define control plans Train the operation team Evaluate and improve the process capabilities Put in place monitoring of the Process and Products parameters, analyze deviations, put in place counter measures and monitor the progress Improve the processes recipes to reach the expected capabilities Challenge the technology, and identify opportunities or implement changes to improve products or reduce costs using knowledge of fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment, assembly methods, quality control standards, or product design, materials, and parts Carry out continuous quality improvement assessments required by the Automotive Industry (CQI9) and insure compliance Determine root causes of failures and recommend process changes to improve product quality Provide technicial expertise or support related to manufacturing Review production schedules, engineering specifications, orders, and related information to obtain knowledge of manufacturing methods, procedures, and activities Coordinate and implement quality control objectives, activities, or procedures to resolve production problems, maximize product reliability, and minimize costs Education And/or Work Experience Requirements Required Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in Materials, Industrial Engineering/Metallurigical Degree 3 years of experience in an automotive-related manufacturing environment which operates a 24/7 continuous process preferred Background in metallurgy, all materials engineering and heat treat operations or a combination of a minimum of 5 years of formal metallurgical education and heat treat experience Knowledge of materials and metallurgical operations Heat treat knowledge and metal properties Knowledge of Quality methods and tools: DMAIC, FMEA, PDCA, 5M diagram Knowledge in electrical, mechanical and hydraulics Knowledge in heavy industry, metallurgy type preferred Interested in hearing more?
