DeBakey VA Medical Center (MEDVAMC) in Houston, Texas is seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and highly skilled Staff Physician to join our nationally recognized Spinal Cord Injury & Disorders (SCI/D) Service. The SCI/D Center in Houston is one of the largest and most comprehensive in the country, providing acute rehabilitation, medical/surgical management of chronic SCI, primary care for Veterans with spinal cord injuries, and lifelong interdisciplinary follow-up. The ideal candidate has strong clinical skills in managing complex SCI patients, thrives in an interdisciplinary environment, and is committed to delivering high-quality, Veteran-centered care. Major Duties and Responsibilities: Provide comprehensive outpatient and/or inpatient care to Veterans with spinal cord injury and spinal cord disorders, including traumatic and non-traumatic etiologies. Provide primary care services for Veterans enrolled in the SCI/D Primary Care Model. Collaborate closely with an interdisciplinary team, including rehabilitation therapists, nurses, psychologists, social workers, urology, PM&R, neurology, surgery, and other specialties. Participate in the PM&R/SCI on-call schedule. Support the medical center's mission of education by supervising residents, fellows, and medical students as assigned. Engage in quality improvement initiatives, performance measures, and evidence-based practice aligned with VA standards. Participate in multidisciplinary team rounds, family meetings, and care coordination activities.
