Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Med Surg / Telemetry Discipline: RN Start Date: 02/23/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 48 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position with regional float requirements and strong telemetry and med/surg skills. Responsibilities Work in a hospital setting across multiple med/surg and telemetry units Patient population includes cardiac, respiratory, orthopedic, general medical, surgical, and detox cases RN to patient ratios are typically 1:5-6; may surge to 1:7-8 during critical periods Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Phillips monitors Night shift from 1900-0700 with a 36-hour week option Weekend rotation required every other weekend Floating required within Region 3 facilities as needed, including Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, and Central Division locations No on-call or call-back requirements Travelers must work 75% of holidays Assigned a home unit on the first day of orientation Daily duties include comprehensive telemetry and med/surg patient care with specialty coverage based on unit assignment Support team includes CNAs, charge nurse, HUC/receptionist, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, resource nurse, RT, 24/7 hospitalist and intensivist No telemetry tech monitoring provided Orientation includes NEO and 2 days of departmental training Navy scrubs required Free parking provided Time off up to 6 days (excluding holidays) can be approved; must add time to contract to meet hours if unable to work contracted shifts Mid-shift floating between facilities is compensated First-time travelers may be considered but are not preferred Requirements Active NC or compact RN license required Minimum 18 months of recent Med/Surg Tele RN experience required Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Skills needed include stroke care, cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, drain/tube management (e.g., Dobhoff, PEG tubes, JP drains, foley), and PCA pump operation Medication drip management experience with cardiac drips, heparin, blood products, and IV fluids Ortho experience and spinal precautions required for 7N/S Ortho Surgical unit Epic EMR experience preferred Traveler’s permanent address must be 50 miles from home unit Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-664986.
