Mission Manager (Seattle)

Our Client Our client builds mission-critical software for military logistics and sustainment, helping the U.S. military and its allies get fuel, ammunition, parts, and people where they need to be, when they need to be there. Modern forces must manage these needs in environments where communications are unreliable and supply routes are contested. Too much of that work still runs on whiteboards and spreadsheets. The company’s flagship platform uses AI to give commanders a shared, real-time view of inventory, distribution, medical needs, and operational planning. It combines software, AI tools, and tracking tags and sensors to improve visibility. The platform has been deployed with U.S. Army and Marine Corps units during major military exercises. The company recently raised a $43 million Series A and is backed by leading venture capital firms and experienced defense technology executives. Its team of roughly 60 people combines engineering talent from Anduril, Meta, AWS, and Vannevar with deep operational experience; approximately 60% of employees are veterans. The company is headquartered in the Washington, DC area, with employee hubs in New York City and Seattle. The Role Our client is hiring a Mission Manager to own customer and mission outcomes on its Mission Success team. This person connects the company’s engineering and product teams with the military units using its software. You will build trusted relationships with military customers, learn their operational needs firsthand, and turn mission problems into clear product requirements, priorities, and actionable engineering work. When something breaks in the field, you will help troubleshoot it and drive it to resolution. You will spend a meaningful share of your time with customers on installations, at exercises, and supporting deployments. Success means military users trust you, engineers receive useful operational context, and the software becomes measurably better at supporting logistics and sustainment missions. Key Responsibilities Own mission and customer outcomes, serving as the primary connection to military users. Build trusted customer relationships and develop a deep understanding of operational needs. Translate customer and mission problems into product requirements, priorities, and actionable work for engineering and product teams. Help solve technical problems, troubleshoot issues, and drive software improvements. Coordinate across customers, engineering, product, and program stakeholders to resolve problems. Identify opportunities for the platform to better support military logistics and sustainment. Work in customer environments and ensure the software delivers measurable mission value. Travel regularly for customer engagements, deployments, exercises, and mission support. Candidate Profile Our client seeks a military veteran who has owned outcomes for customers, programs, or products and is ready to bring that experience to a growing software team. The ideal candidate understands how military organizations operate and can engage credibly with operators, logisticians, and government stakeholders. They bring meaningful experience in at least one of three areas: business development and growth, customer relationship management, or product management. Program or product management experience is especially valuable. This person investigates the underlying need behind a customer request and follows through on the solution. They are technically fluent enough to understand software problems, ask engineers useful questions, and help drive improvements without needing to be the primary engineer. They work comfortably without a rigid playbook, move between strategic conversations and hands-on troubleshooting, and are motivated by improving military logistics and sustainment. Professional Experience Military Background U.S. military experience with a strong understanding of military operations, customers, and mission environments. Personal ownership of missions, programs, or operational outcomes during service. Customer, Program & Product Ownership Meaningful experience in business development or growth, customer relationship management, or product management. Program or product management experience: defining problems, prioritizing work, coordinating stakeholders, and delivering outcomes. A track record of understanding ambiguous problems and driving them to a solution. Technical Fluency Sufficient technical depth to understand software problems, communicate effectively with engineers, and help drive product changes. Experience solving technical problems or working with engineers to improve software. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Additional Experience — Preferred Working directly with military units, operators, or government customers. Defense technology, military logistics, sustainment, command and control, or operational software. Deploying software or product capabilities in field environments. Turning customer feedback into roadmap or engineering priorities. Balancing customer requests against engineering constraints. Identifying a customer need and helping turn it into a shipped software capability. Building or improving a customer relationship, program, or product from the ground up. Broad ownership in a startup or other fast-moving environment. Business development or growth experience alongside product, program, or customer-facing responsibilities. Personal Attributes Strong ownership and sound judgment in ambiguous situations. Credibility with military customers and senior leaders. Comfort working alongside engineers and digging into technical details. Ability to handle strategic conversations and hands-on problem solving. Motivation to improve real-world military logistics and sustainment. Compensation & Benefits This is a full-time, on-site role based in Rosslyn, Virginia (Arlington), or Seattle, Washington, with approximately 25–50% travel for customer engagements, deployments, and mission support. A Secret or Top Secret clearance is required. Candidates must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents; visa sponsorship is not available. Base salary: $140,000–$200,000 , depending on experience.
