Mechanical Design Supervisor (Thermal) Full-Time | On-Site Position Overview This role is responsible for leading the design and execution of air-cooled heat exchanger systems in alignment with customer specifications and industry standards. You’ll play a key role in mentoring engineers, improving design processes, and ensuring high-quality, on-time deliverables. Key Responsibilities Design Ownership: Develop and review air-cooled heat exchanger designs to meet project requirements, codes, and performance expectations. Technical Oversight: Validate calculations, drawings, and design outputs from other engineers to ensure accuracy and compliance. Team Development: Train and mentor design engineers on codes, standards, internal processes, and engineering tools. Project Execution: Drive timelines, manage priorities, and ensure deliverables are completed on schedule. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with sales, customers, fabrication teams, and drafting resources to align design intent with execution. Process Improvement: Identify and implement enhancements to improve efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness. Leadership Communication: Keep leadership informed on workload, performance trends, and any risks or bottlenecks. Leadership Responsibilities Team Management: Oversee a team of ~5–15 engineers/design staff, ensuring productivity and accountability. Performance Oversight: Support hiring, training, evaluations, and performance management. Work Allocation: Assign and balance workloads, define methods, and ensure safe and effective execution of tasks. Issue Resolution: Address team challenges, remove roadblocks, and maintain a strong, collaborative environment. Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Structural Engineering (or related field). Industry Experience: Background designing air-cooled heat exchangers or similar thermal/mechanical equipment. Engineering Knowledge: Familiarity with pressure vessel design principles, structural steel, and fabrication practices. Codes & Standards: Working knowledge of ASME (Section VIII), API standards, and structural design codes. Technical Tools: Experience with design/drafting software (e.g., AutoCAD) and standard business tools (Excel, Word). Licensure (Preferred): Professional Engineer (PE) designation is a plus. Work Environment & Physical Requirements Work Setting: Primarily on-site with occasional exposure to manufacturing environments. Physical Activity: Combination of sitting, standing, and occasional movement throughout the facility. Lifting: Ability to handle materials up to ~50 lbs as needed. We are seeking Die Chaser-Polisher for a Metal Extrusion client in Garden City, MI Shift: 2nd: 3 pm to 1 am Monday- Friday, OT Saturdays 3 pm to 11 pm Must be able to train on days for 2 weeks (5 am to 1pm M-F, Sat 5 am -1 pm) Heavy Lifting is required for this role! Pay Rate:16/hr Job Duties Transporting die press molds to various areas according to schedule and move extruded dies for caustic processing/storage Use a craning device to hook and relocate dies to various areas Lift dies either solo up to 50lbs or with assistance up to 75 lbs. Put dies through the caustic solution to clean excess aluminum out of the die Inspect and polish dies to ensure they are clean and there are no remaining aluminum remnants Load, start, and monitor the nitrider machine Assist in die corrections Assemble and break down tooling assemblies Utilize various hand tools including: hammers and chisels Clean work area at end of the shift Perform any other assignments given On-Site Training Use of proper PPE (i.e.: safety glasses, steel toe, ear plugs, gloves, etc.). Safety Rules and Practices Die inspection Cleaning dies Proper operation of hand tools and use of safety equipment Requirements Lifting 50 to 75 pounds with assistance, continuously High school diploma, or equivalent Certification or Associate's Degree in a Manufacturing field is a plus! Ability to read and write in English fluently with proficiency Must have basic computer skills.
