Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Med Surg Discipline: RN Start Date: ASAP Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel Estimated Gross Weekly Pay: $ 2281.36 Opportunity: RN - MedSurg Post Surgical Job Details: • 12-hour night shifts from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM • Every other weekend required • No specific holiday requirement; may rotate in with core staff • Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-5 on both day and night shifts • CNA support available with ratios of 1:7 on days and 1:11 on nights • Charge nurse available 24/7 and does not take a patient assignment • House supervisor and critical care outreach RN available 24/7 • Remote telemetry monitored by a tele tech on a separate unit • Basic understanding of strip interpretation and lethal rhythms required • Required to titrate drips including titratable Heparin; set rate Amiodarone and Cardizem most common • Experience preferred with chest tubes, central lines, Heparin drips, NG tubes, JP drains, wound vacs, and dressing changes • Common patient diagnoses include post-surgical general, urology, abdominal, amputations, trauma, ENT, and bariatrics (travelers do not take bariatric patients) • No cardiac, ortho, or neuro patients on this unit • No ventilators on unit; CPAP used at night for maintenance • Travelers are first to float within skill set; may float to other med surg units, ICU as a resource, ER for holds, or to various units as a sitter • Standby requirement possible if not needed; may be called in at any time during the shift • Charting system: EPIC • Unit orientation consists of 2 twelve-hour shifts • Required certification: BLS • BSN not required • Professional scrubs in any color required; no tattoos visible above shoulders, only facial piercing allowed is a nose stud, and natural hair color required • Hourly rounding, participation in bedside report, and a positive attitude are of high importance Facility: This acute care facility operates a 38-bed Medical Surgical Post Surgical unit, with four semi-private beds, providing comprehensive post-surgical care across a wide range of specialties. The facility is a Level 2 Trauma Center equipped with remote telemetry monitoring and a dedicated critical care outreach team available around the clock. The organization maintains high standards of patient care with robust nursing support structures, including 24/7 charge nurse coverage and house supervisor availability.
