Details , MedSurg Tele, and PCU units across two campuses, including inpatients holding in the ED West campus MedSurg Tele unit has 95 beds divided into 4 areas, organized into 10-room double-occupancy pods West campus Stepdown unit has 14 double-occupancy rooms with an average census of 20 East campus NextCare is a 10-bed double-occupancy unit with ICU and stepdown patients Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4 in PCU and 1:5-6 in MedSurg Tele Patient population includes geriatric and orthopedic patients, with a strong cath lab program resulting in post-procedural patients requiring groin site care in stepdown Common diagnoses include post-MI, post-cardiac catheterization, and CABG post-op (day 3-4) patients RNs are required to titrate drips including Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitro, Dopamine, Dobutamine, and Insulin Uses Cerner EMR RT equipment includes CPAP and BiPAP at night in MedSurg, and BiPAP, CPAP, and heated high-flow in PCU Telemetry monitoring is used in Stepdown with on-unit monitors, while monitor techs cover PCU and MedSurg Tele; nurses must be able to interpret strips Charge nurses are assigned to each unit and do not take patient assignments Nurse aides are utilized across all settings 12-hour day shifts scheduled 7-7, with schedules published 6 weeks out in 4-week blocks Night shift scheduling will attempt to accommodate block scheduling Every other weekend required Holiday coverage required, with travelers included in the permanent staff holiday rotation; must work 2 of 3 major holidays On-call/standby required on shifts with excess staffing, with potential call-in at any point during the 12-hour shift Unit assignments communicated via text message 2 hours prior to shift start Distance between campuses is approximately 20-25 minutes First to float within the float pool 13-week assignment Requirements Active AZ or Compact RN license required Current BLS and ACLS certification required Minimum 1 year of ICU experience required Minimum 2 years of RN experience required Must be comfortable managing the majority of common titratable drips including Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitro, Dopamine, Dobutamine, and Insulin Must be able to interpret telemetry strips Must pass a dysrhythmia exam within two attempts prior to signing contract Candidates may not have been directly employed (full time, part time, or PRN) with any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI and/or Dignity, within the past year Additional Information Float pool position covering ICU, MedSurg Tele, and PCU units across two campuses Provide direct patient care including drip titration and telemetry interpretation for cardiac and post-surgical patients Complete unit-specific orientation including 8 hours of general hospital orientation plus a 12-hour shift at West MedTele and a 12-hour shift at West PCU Given a pass/fail sterile technique test on Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes on the first day of orientation Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility Dress code requires solid color professional scrubs, transitioning to navy scrubs to align with updated facility guidelines American Traveler Job ID P-747630.
