Job Description Service Line Chief of Orthopedics opening in NY Located in Cooperstown, NY Full-Time, PermanentA leading integrated academic health system in central New York is seeking a Service Line Chief of Orthopedics to provide strategic and clinical leadership across its Orthopedics and Podiatry service line. This is a high-impact leadership opportunity with strong compensation, dedicated administrative time, program growth responsibility, and the ability to shape orthopedic strategy across a large regional network. Lead Orthopedics and Podiatry across an eight-county region covering 5,600 square miles Major teaching affiliate of Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons Orthopedics is a key strategic growth priority for the system 0.7 FTE clinical / 0.3 FTE administrative structure Maintain an active clinical practice; Total Joint preferred Lead growth strategy for musculoskeletal, joint replacement, and orthopedic subspecialty programs Oversee staffing, workflows, clinical operations, quality, safety, and patient experience Drive physician recruitment, retention, program development, and market expansion Department includes 11 orthopedic physicians, 4 podiatry physicians, and 13 Physician Assistants Subspecialties include total joint, spine, sports medicine, trauma, shoulder/upper extremity, and foot and ankle Compensation & Recruitment Package: Salary range: $838,250 - $1,093,166 Eligible for Chief Incentive Plan with additional performance-based compensation Sign-on bonus: $200,000 Supportive transition bonus: $10,000 Job Qualifications: MD, DO or equivalent Board Certified in Orthopedic Surgery Eligible for New York State licensure Fellowship training strongly preferred; Total Joint preferred MBA, MPH, or MHA a plus Minimum 7 years of postgraduate clinical experience in an academic or community-based orthopedic program Minimum 5 years of successful leadership experience as a Medical Director, Section Head, Chief, or Associate Chief Demonstrated success building or growing programs and service lines Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills Benefits: Medical, dental and vision insurance Generous paid time off CME and professional development opportunities Paid malpractice 403(b) and 457(b) retirement plans Employer retirement contribution based on eligibility criteria Cooperstown, New York offers a high quality of life in a scenic lakeside community with year-round access to outdoor recreation, cultural attractions, museums, golf, sailing, hiking, and skiing.
