Director of Tax This leadership role will be responsible for overseeing the Company’s tax filing requirements, including federal and state income tax returns, and providing strategic support for tax incentives and tax mitigation projects. The Director will lead tax research and special project work, ensuring compliance with all applicable tax laws. The successful candidate will demonstrate advanced expertise in US partnership taxation, GAAP accounting consolidated and international tax returns, and multi-state tax concepts. Responsibilities Lead the management of partnership tax returns, LLC members' GAAP and tax capital account roll forward, ensuring proper income (loss) allocations. Provide strategic leadership and oversight of partnership tax reporting, including reviewing and reconciling amounts between tax returns and source data. Direct R&D tax credit and expenses, ensuring accurate and compliant reporting. Oversee the accumulation, analysis, and processing of financial data in preparation for tax returns, budgets, forecasts, and financial accounting estimates related to tax. Perform tax research and write memos to support tax positions. Support the tax team on all tax audits, ensuring efficient resolution. Support state and local tax (SALT) matters, including SALT compliance and operations, exemption certifications, and matters related to remote workers across multiple states, ensuring compliance with multi-state tax laws. Provide guidance and review for financial statement reporting related to taxes. Support tax strategies and advise leadership of trends and changes in tax requirements and impact on business planning. Monitor, evaluate and analyze emerging tax trends and provide expertise on impact to organization. Stay updated on federal, state, and international tax law changes, maintaining a high level of knowledge in the tax field. Work cross departmentally with entities on tax opportunities and compliance, finance on budgeting and forecasting, legal on entity set-up and compliance, and other departments to gather the necessary information for reporting purposes. Manage external tax advisors and consultants for outsourced tax compliance and advisory services. Include preparation of quarterly review tax process, annual audit process, documentation, and associated internal control work. Key Qualifications and Skills Master's degree in Taxation or related field. Extensive experience in LLC partnership tax, corporate tax, and state income tax compliance. Minimum of 15 years of work experience in an accounting or tax environment, with at least 5 years in a leadership role. CPA license preferred. Big 4 and industry tax experience strongly preferred. Deep knowledge of federal, state, and local income tax forms, including Form 1065, Form 6765, and various state partnership returns. Industry experience in engineering, nuclear, aerospace, and defense preferred. Proficient with Microsoft Excel; ability to quickly adapt to other Finance and Accounting systems (e.g., Oracle Cloud ERP, Concur). Knowledge of Oracle preferred. Experience with direct and indirect costs, allowable and unallowable expenses. Familiarity with government grants and government contracts preferred. Strong organizational skills, high attention to detail, and accuracy. Ability to quickly grasp new information and technologies. Experience working in fast-paced, dynamic environments. Excellent communication skills, comfortable working with cross-functional teams and non-accounting professionals. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively. Proven leadership skills, with the ability to foster teamwork and collaboration in a multi-disciplinary environment. Government export authorization approval times vary. Job Details Salary Range: $216,695 - $325,042. We typically place offers in the lower to middle portion of the range to maintain internal equity and allow room for growth. This range is specific to Washington State.
