Instrument Test Technician II – Milpitas, CA Pay Rate: $32.00/hr Schedule: Monday–Friday | 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM Interview Type: Onsite Assignment Length: Extension possible POSITION SUMMARY The Instrument Test Technician II conducts production testing of assembled flow cytometers and related medical device products. This role performs system-level and subassembly-level testing, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis involving electronic, mechanical, optical, fluidic, and electromechanical components. The technician ensures products meet performance specifications, quality standards, and production schedules while maintaining compliance with regulatory and safety requirements. This position requires independent judgment, technical expertise, and collaboration with assemblers, technicians, quality personnel, and engineers in a team-oriented manufacturing environment. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Perform instrument optimization after final assembly, including laser alignment, pressure adjustments, and electrical calibration Conduct final production testing and inspections to ensure compliance with specifications and standards Troubleshoot system-level and subassembly-level failures and determine root causes Repair or replace defective components or assemblies and process required documentation Compare test results against specifications and accurately record data and plots Generate documentation required for Device History Records (DHR) Collaborate with engineers to resolve complex or unique technical issues Read and interpret detailed test instructions, assembly instructions, work orders, BOMs, SOPs, and related documentation Develop, document, and improve troubleshooting techniques Provide feedback on production methods, test procedures, and product design Support projects related to quality improvement, cost reduction, cycle time reduction, reliability improvement, and new product introduction Assist in creating and updating process and product documentation Collect, analyze, and document key measurements and performance metrics Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment Accurately complete time sheets and all required paperwork Keep training records current and participate in required regulatory training Adhere to Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) policies and procedures Report unsafe conditions or practices and contribute to workplace safety initiatives Perform additional duties as assigned MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Associate’s degree (A.S.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school 3 years of related experience in a high-tech manufacturing environment Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to apply mathematical concepts including fractions, percentages, ratios, and basic statistical inference Good mechanical aptitude with strong hand-eye coordination Ability to lift up to 35 lbs daily and perform reaching and bending tasks Experience using DVMs, oscilloscopes, and general test equipment Proficiency with PC or Mac systems and Microsoft Word and Excel Willingness to be cross-trained in other production areas Knowledge of and adherence to safety procedures and programs Exposure to ISO 9000 and cGMP (21 CFR Part 820) PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Experience in a medical device manufacturing environment Hands-on experience testing and troubleshooting laser-based optical systems, fluidic systems, and digital/analog circuitry Strong knowledge of PC and networking environments Advanced proficiency in Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint Strong working knowledge of ISO 9000 and cGMP (21 CFR Part 820) Familiarity with LEAN Manufacturing, Six Sigma tools, and Demand Flow Technology (DFT) Strong experience with logic analyzers and oscilloscopes If you are interested, please reach out to Chin Yang at A-Line Staffing . 586-323-4194 | [email protected] .
