Description Summary: Performs a variety of technical duties to assist in preparing and caring for pre-operative patients. Prepares patient skin for surgery in accordance with hospital standards. Maintains aseptic techniques; actively monitors situations that could lead to breaches in aseptic technique. Provides comfort and support for pre-operative patients by demonstrating sensitivity to patient care and privacy. Transports patients to and from the Operating Room suite. Positions patients according to the type of surgery. Identifies and cares for biological specimens. Prepares the Operating Room by setting up tables, instruments, and supplies according to type of case. PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION The purpose of this position is to assist the residents without providing hands-on care. JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES Duty 1: Make regular rounds and assist with the basic needs of the residents. This would include ensuring water is provided, pushing wheel chairs, obtaining items such as remotes, etc. Duty 2: Assisting residents with their meals as needed and providing in-between meal nourishment without providing direct hands-on care. Duty 3: Responding to call lights and if the need is for a nurse aide or nurse, alerting them REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Positive service-oriented interpersonal and communication skills required. Individual must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served on his/her assigned unit/department. The associate will be required to walk for up to one hour a day, sit for four to six hours a day and stand for one hour a day.
