Reports to GM and ownership Growth opportunity to CFO Full low cost health benefits Base plus bonus opportunity Generous 401k retirement match Job Details Job Details: We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Permanent Controller to join our thriving Accounting and Finance team. The successful candidate will have a hands-on approach, taking ownership of Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Inventory for a farming/processing operation. This role is critical in ensuring timely and accurate entries and month-end close, supporting crop-year P&L reporting, bank/MD&A requests, and grower payments. The Controller will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on the company's financial operations and will be a key player in the company's success. Responsibilities: Accounts Receivable: Oversee the invoicing of shipments, apply cash, maintain aging, drive collections, and reconcile revenue to the bill of lading. Accounts Payable: Code by ranch/block/cost center, process payments, and handle 1099s. Inventory Accounting: Record receipts, manage WIP and finished goods, monitor yields/shrinkage by-products, handle lot costing and adjustments, and conduct monthly counts and reconciliations. Crop-Year Close: Assist with crop-year financials, manage accruals/deferrals, prepaid/advances, and grower distributions. Cost Accounting: Determine standard costs for processing, manage variances, handle labor/overtime burden during harvest, and oversee freight and storage allocations. Reporting & Compliance: Prepare MD&A-style variance notes, bank covenant packages, grant/loan support, audit/PBC packages, and handle sales/use tax. Process & Controls: Document workflows, strengthen approvals/segregation of duties, and automate processes where possible. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) preferred but not required for consideration. Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role. Proven experience in managing A/R, A/P, and Inventory in a farming/processing operation. Strong understanding of financial regulations and accounting processes. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in using financial software and MS Office Suite. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent leadership and team management skills. Interested in hearing more?
