Job Description Job Description Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1 years RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. A registered nurse with a strong background in operating room nursing is needed for a contract opportunity in Petersburg, IL. This role requires a minimum of three years of experience in a Level I trauma center environment, with hands-on expertise in a wide range of surgical specialties including general surgery, neurology, orthopedics, plastic surgery, transplant, urology, and trauma cases. Candidates must hold an active Illinois nursing license or be in the application process. Key Qualifications and Experience: Minimum 3 years of Operating Room nursing experience in an acute care, Level I trauma center BLS certification required; CNOR certification preferred Experience with Cerner charting system preferred Proficient in various surgical procedures such as appendectomy, craniotomy, hernia repair, laparoscopic procedures, and trauma case management Skilled in emergency management including code response and fire safety Knowledgeable in administration of blood products, infection control, radiation safety, and universal protocol compliance Familiarity with specialized equipment like electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources, and Hana tables Schedule and Location: Shift: 4x10-hour days, 06:45 AM to 5:15 PM Weekend: One weekend shift per month required On-call: One shift per week on average Location: Petersburg, Illinois (must reside at least 50 miles away to qualify) Role Responsibilities: Provide expert perioperative care across multiple surgical service lines except cardiovascular Participate in trauma and emergency surgical procedures Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure patient safety and standard adherence Assist with specimen handling and labeling, urinary catheterization, and equipment management About Petersburg, IL:Located in the scenic Midwest, Petersburg offers a blend of small-town charm and access to regional amenities.
