An opportunity is available for an experienced Registered Nurse with step-down unit expertise to support acute patient care in Gastonia, NC. This role is a contract position offering a professional healthcare environment dedicated to delivering quality nursing services for complex medical cases. Key Qualifications and Experience: Minimum of 18 months PCU RN experience required BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications mandatory Proficient in cardiac rhythm interpretation, tracheostomy care, chest tube management, and blood product administration Skilled in wound care, dressing changes, and central line management Comfortable managing patients with diverse diagnoses including CHF, dysrhythmias, stroke, respiratory illnesses, diabetes, AKI/CKD, and substance withdrawal Experience with EMR systems, specifically EPIC, and IV pumps such as Alariso, plus med dispensing via Omnicell Responsibilities: Provide nursing care for a 32-bed step-down unit with typical nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4, occasionally 1:5 depending on acuity Collaborate with CNAs, charge nurses, phlebotomists, respiratory therapists, hospitalists, and intensivists to deliver comprehensive patient care Utilize telemetry monitoring at bedside and nurses station to continuously assess cardiac status Adhere to unit policies including weekend rotation every other week, no call responsibilities, and holiday work expectations covering 75% of contracted holidays Participate in a 2-day new employee orientation followed by departmental training to integrate into the team and environment Follow floating assignments within the region as needed, with paid travel time between facilities Location Details:Gastonia, North Carolina, offers a welcoming, family-oriented community setting.
