Job Description Responsible for Level IIB Special Care Nursery. Required to round on pediatric inpatients, well babies, and special care nursery. Perform procedures including circumcisions, frenotomy, lumbar puncture, intubation, and UVC placement. Manage infants born at 32 weeks and above, including CPAP, surfactant, and ventilator care. Average of 1,000 deliveries per year. Average daily census: 12 patients, including 2 pediatric inpatients, 8 well newborns, and 4 special care. Emergency department consults and limited outpatient medical consults. Provide newborn care and attend high-risk deliveries. Six 24-hour shifts per 28-day block. 48-hour shifts from 8 am Saturday to 8 am Monday. All call is in-house with access to a call room. Average number of patients per day: 8-10. Types of cases include well babies, low-acuity pediatric patients (reactive airway, RSV, dehydration), special care for 32 weeks and up, and ER consults. Preference for candidates with an Ohio license. Must be NRP and PALS certified. Preference for candidates trained in circumcision and frenotomy.
