Job Description We have an immediate practice opportunity for a full time Comprehensive of Special Interest Ophthalmologist. The Department staffs a facility in the metropolitan Phoenix area with State-of-the-art equipment and Technology. Optometric and subspecialty support in Retina and Oculoplastic is available. The successful candidate will have responsibilities relating to serving as a faculty member to its sponsored graduate medical education programs. The candidate will assist in developing the clinical service line, providing inpatient and outpatient general ophthalmology services in the elective and emergent care settings, shared call coverage, teaching residents and should be comfortable with a teamwork approach for patient management. The candidate will also have the opportunity to participate in collaborative research activities. Required qualifications: The qualified candidate with interest in academics must have completed an accredited ophthalmology residency program, be board certified and/or board eligible. Fellowship training in Glaucoma, Anterior segment and or Cornea and External disease is welcome. Applicant must be eligible for an unrestricted Arizona Medical license. Medical center is expanding their emergency care services to meet increasing patient demand. To support this expansion, it will launch 2 new state-of-the-art Free-Standing Emergency Departments (FSEDs): A 12-bed FSED opening in August 2026. An 8-bed FSED in Socastee, expected to open in late 2026. This is a unique opportunity for Emergency Medicine Physicians to contribute to a community-focused, innovative healthcare environment in one of the fastest-growing counties in the U.S. Schedule and Coverage: Minimum of 120 hours per month (12-hour shifts), with the opportunity to work additional shifts if desired - no cap on monthly shifts, and all are paid at the same rate. Rotations between the main ED and FSEDs are expected, though exclusive FSED coverage may be considered. Daily Staffing: The (main) ED is staffed with 4 physicians and 3 APPs each day. The FSEDs will be staffed according to volume. Emergency physicians manage an average of 1.8-2 patients per hour, maintaining high efficiency even during peak times. The team continuously monitors volume trends to optimize staffing and ensure excellent patient care. No call responsibilities are required for this position. Shifts are structured to promote flexibility, ensuring a sustainable work-life balance. Facilities and Resources: FSED : 12 beds with full lab, X-ray, CT, and ultrasound capabilities. Cerner EMR with Dragon Dictation for efficient charting. Specialist Access: The ED operates with a closed ICU supported by intensivists available in-house 24/7. Surgicalists are on call to assist in the ED when needed. Medical center is a Chest Pain Center with an established STEMI program and 24/7 interventional cardiology services. STEMI alert protocols ensure rapid and efficient cardiac emergency response. Physicians have opportunities to mentor residents and medical students. Clinical mentoring occurs during shifts, with no obligation for didactic lectures. This is ideal for physicians interested in teaching in a practical setting. Level of Care and Transfers: Level III Trauma Center Over 50,000 annual ER visits Low Transfer Rate: 2% Admission Rate: 25%. Common transfers include neurosurgical cases, advanced orthopedic trauma, transplant patients, and pediatric ICU cases. Transfers are facilitated seamlessly through established call-center protocols with tertiary care facilities. Candidate Parameters: Board Certified/Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine (EM) required - (no FM or IM). Open to new residents, experienced physicians, and fellowship-trained candidates.
