What you’ll do Provide end-to-end counseling on a range of retail products, including those that touch upon payments, credit cards, and banking-related products and services, working with colleagues and cross-functional stakeholders across the company Respond promptly to a wide range of complex legal requests and coordinate closely with your team and outside counsel to deliver practical, timely, and high-quality advice Identify and assess business and legal risks, and find creative ways to mitigate them while achieving product goals Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations Advise on, review, and draft consumer agreements in support of new products Develop trusted relationships to facilitate a coordinated team approach to launching new products and features Be a business partner, and think like a proactive product owner, not just a legal advisor Pitch in on legal work across the team whenever needed What you bring J.D. degree from an ABA-accredited law school (or foreign equivalent) Membership in at least 1 U.S. State Bar, with good standing 7 years of relevant work experience across a law firm, government agency, or a fast-paced technology, financial services, banking, lending, payments, or fintech company Well-developed knowledge and experience with consumer lending products, including credit cards and applicable federal consumer financial protection laws such as the Truth in Lending Act, the Equal Opportunity Credit Act, the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act Deep understanding of consumer banking products, including deposit accounts and applicable federal consumer financial protection laws such as the Expedited Funds Availability Act, the Truth in Savings Act, and the Electronic Fund Transfer Act Experience working with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and its rules and regulations Advanced expertise with payments industry legal issues and applicable compliance requirements and regulations, including NACHA Rules, card network rules, Bank Secrecy Act / anti-money laundering rules, and state money transmission services regulation Experience supporting the rollout of retail-based customer products and services Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to communicate information effectively to non-legal audiences and drive cross‑functional alignment An execution‑oriented mindset with the agility, drive, and creativity to deliver results What we offer Challenging, high‑impact work to grow your career.
