About The Role The People Team at Notion exists to help build a generational company that enables people to do their best and most meaningful work. This role operates at all altitudes - one minute, you’ll be building a people strategy with a member of our leadership team, and the next, you’ll be coaching an employee. With Notion's scale this year, you'll play a major role in how we shape, mold, and build the future of Notion for years to come. This role is based in San Francisco, CA. We work from our offices on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays (our Anchor Days) because we do our best thinking and building together in person. We’re looking for someone who’s excited to work alongside the team during those days. What You'll Achieve Build deep partnerships with Notion’s leadership team (especially across Engineering, Product, and Design), and serve as a conduit between stakeholders up to C-suite and the People Team. Advise on, create, and execute people strategies that drive the business forward. Consult with the leadership team on Talent Planning, Org Design, Retention Strategies, and Change Management. Apply systems thinking to evolve how we operate — translating patterns and friction into improvements across people programs and operating rhythms. Share proactive insights from people data, to uncover hot spots, and ensure Notion is being proactive to retain top talent. Support and help shape the 360 performance review process: manager calibrations, facilitate training sessions, compensation planning, and host office hours. Coach Managers to lead through change, effectively performance manage and increase employee engagement with ongoing feedback and effective communication. Provide targeted performance management support, devise and implement development plans, and enhance managers' training for improved team performance. Skills You'll Need to Bring 10 years of experience, minimum of 3 years of Engineering and/or Product experience and deep knowledge of various HR functions such as talent management, organizational design, employee relations, and performance management. Strong learning velocity and able to ramp quickly on new organizations, leaders, and evolving operating models. Demonstrated experience building relationships with senior leaders and cross-functional stakeholders. Solutions-oriented with an analytical approach to problem-solving. Ability to remain tactful and calm in all situations. Highly adaptable and will thrive in a rapidly changing, fast-paced environment. Effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; ability to thrive with async and global teams Understanding of state and federal laws concerning labor relations. The compensation offered for this role will be based on multiple factors such as location, the role’s scope and complexity, and the candidate’s experience and expertise, and may vary from the range provided below. For roles based in San Francisco or New York City, the estimated base salary range for this role is $220,000 - $245,000 per year. You don’t need deep AI expertise for every role, but we do expect every Notino to be intellectually curious, drawn to tinkering and discovery, and excited to use AI as a real collaborator in their work. For some roles, AI fluency is a core requirement — when that’s the case, we'll say so explicitly in the qualifications. People who thrive here don’t treat AI as a novelty.
