Job Description Survey Technician KHEOPS is seeking a fulltime Instrument Operator/Survey Technician. Candidates must possess strong computer/technical skills and the willingness to embrace and learn new technologies. The position also requires the flexibility to travel and stay out-of-town on a frequent basis. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Follows the directives of the Survey Crew Chief to complete assigned projects. Forward thinking, understands field processes and is able to identify errors in data collection or other blunders. Accustomed to field to finish procedures (point codes and line strings run in field). Follows and complies with, when applicable, Company procedures and State requirements to ensure that field data is in the proper format, taking into account the fact that each job will have its own peculiarities. Maintains equipment in good working condition including calibrations, collimations, and general cleaning and keeps a maintenance record. Keeps the truck supplied with lath, hubs, pins, paint, ribbon, and any other supplies necessary to complete the day’s work. Adheres to safety procedures and uses all personal safety equipment provided. Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Minimum Associates degree in Surveying or Civil Engineering. Minimum two (2) years of survey experience with a Civil Engineering or Surveying Firm. Must be able to obtain high level of performance with survey field equipment, including GPS, conventional/robotic total stations and data collectors. Experience with Bentley InRoads, Microstation, AutoCAD, Trimble Robotics, TDS data collection a plus. Ability to hold and maintain a valid driver’s license. Ability to perform physical work (i.e. strenuous walking, lifting 50 to 100 pounds, cutting of brush, loading and unloading equipment, etc.) Ability to extract, comprehend, and maintain data collected in the field.
