PURPOSE: The Safety Lane Inspector furnishes quality inspections to the tractor and trailer fleet in a timely and efficient manner, while complying with Marten policy and procedure as well as DOT regulations. RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Ability to identify D.O.T. issues on any/all equipment Marten operates. 2. Ensure C.S.A. violations are identified and repaired prior to equipment leaving facility. 3. Clear and concise understanding of the fleets equipment and how to properly maintain the company standard. 4. Capture and inspect all equipment at respective terminals during yard checks and monitoring. 5. Ensure all company, EPA and Safety policies are compiled to meet local, state and federal standards. 6. Accountable for all direct and indirect labor hours on a daily and weekly basis. 7. Completes all repair orders in a timely manner, ensuring all labor and parts are charged to the appropriate unit. 8. Return all unused parts to the parts room and does not abuse company tools. 10. Responsible for the cleanliness of work area, keeping spills, grease and debris to a minimum. 11. Ability to coach and communicate effectively with shop and driving staff. 12. PURPOSE: To furnish quality major and minor in-house repairs to the Reefer fleet in a timely and efficient manner while complying with Marten Transport, Ltd. Policy and Procedure. Responsibilities: Maintain proficiency in the diagnosis and repair of all equipment. Maintain proficiency in rebuilding components on equipment. Efficiently perform preventative maintenance inspections. Ensure the timely and effective repair of any problems identified during preventative maintenance inspections. Complete all repair orders in a timely manner ensuring all labor and parts are charged to the appropriate unit. Attends all company training classes, then retains and demonstrate what was instructed. Return all unused parts to the parts room. Responsible for the cleanliness of the work area. Performs additional duties and special projects as needed or directed. Other duties as assigned. Abilities/Skills Required: Must have EPA Certification and able to present it upon request. Must possess mechanical skills and aptitude for the position. Must be able to exhibit skills and knowledge through company pre-employment exam. Must be able to read and write English language and have some computer skills. Ability to isolate and solve problems efficiently. Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds and be able to stand for long hours. Must be able to work various shifts and days, must be able to work in all types of climates including extreme hot and cold.
