Lab Technician

Job Location: Santa Clara, CA Nature of Job: 100% onsite Type of Job: Contract position Duration: 1 year Job Description  Receive switches and other equipment. Install equipment in lab racks.  Add equipment to various databases and systems to facilitate management and use.  Wire up connections between switches and build network topologies.  Respond to and address test topology requests from India Test Engineers and SEs that access their testbeds remotely. The Lab Administer must maintain and modify their testbeds based on their requests and any lab infrastructure changes (moves, etc.).  Debug and resolve issues encountered by the India Test Engineers and SEs as they use their testbeds remotely.  Build and maintain small testbeds to support software development.  Assist remote engineers by facilitating hardware, cables and transceivers development.  Maintain lab supplies such as cables, transceivers, etc.  Work with vendors like Ixia to handle hardware failures, RMAs, and other incidents with equipment that we purchase from them.  Proactively identify issues that may or will impact lab usage. Recommend resolutions for these issues and escalate as needed to ensure the issues are addressed.  Maintain lab supplies such as cables, transceivers, etc.  Work with the network infrastructure group by actively participating in design and deployment  Work with software team to maintain the integrity of servers running applications critical to the business. Field Technician / Warehouse

Pay Rate $23/hr W2 This requires the ability to understand and follow simple to moderately complex processes and work instructions. A moderate amount of physical activity (e.g. lifting, moving, and stacking equipment) is also required of this role. This is not solely a “sit behind a desk and work on a computer” type roles. In addition, the roles in the areas require direct interaction with the customer’s end users – via e-mail, phone or in person - so communication and soft skills are critical. The below tasks and processes are expected for this role: IMACD: Coordinate with end users to deliver/install their IT equipment; monitor the IMACD ServiceNow queue to ensure timely fulfillment of end user requests for new or replacement IT equipment. Staging: Set up compute devices with an operating system and applications per build type. Coordinate with fulfillment teams once devices are ready to be deployed. Moves: Move end user peripherals (monitors, keyboards, mice, and docking stations) from the warehouse to work areas in the building and set them up. Inspect a floor plate to ensure all the desks are equipped and the equipment is set-up and connected properly. Destaging: Receive, unpack, and scan equipment received from FedEx, the Regional Offices and/or dropped off by local IT resources; execute BIOS wipe on desktops and laptops; power on and test monitors. Warehouse: Move, store, organize, and scan IT equipment in the warehouse and ensure an accurate inventory is kept of serialized assets and consumable items.
