Core Truck Solutions is searching for a Truck & Heavy Equipment Upfitter responsible for installing, modifying, and customizing commercial trucks and heavy equipment to meet customer specifications and industry standards. This role requires strong mechanical, electrical, and fabrication skills and works closely with service technicians, parts, and sales teams to ensure all upfits are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. Core Responsibilities Install and configure upfit components such as truck bodies, toolboxes, liftgates, hydraulics, lighting, wiring systems, PTOs, inverters and other aftermarket accessories. · Perform fabrication tasks including drilling, cutting, mounting, and basic to intermediate welding (MIG or equivalent) as required for upfit applications. Read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, schematics, wiring diagrams, cutting locations, dimensions, tolerances and material requirements to complete job tasks according to the product specifications. · Independently wire common electrical systems and accessories, including lighting, auxiliary power, PTO controls, and upfit-related electrical components. · Install, test, and troubleshoot hydraulic and pneumatic systems used in truck and equipment upfits. · Ensure all work complies with DOT regulations, safety standards, and manufacturer specifications. · Conduct quality inspections on completed work to verify proper installation, operation, and workmanship. · Safely operate forklifts, cranes, and other shop equipment to move heavy materials and assembled components. · Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, including proper care of tools, equipment, and installation inventory. · Communicate clearly with service advisors, parts personnel, and management regarding job status, technical needs, and parts requirements. · Document work performed, including time, materials used, and any issues encountered during the upfit process. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training preferred. · Minimum of 2 years of experience in truck upfitting, automotive, diesel, or heavy equipment service. · Strong mechanical aptitude with practical understanding of vehicle systems, assemblies, and installation procedures. · Proficiency with hand and power tools used in mechanical, electrical, and fabrication tasks. Working knowledge of electrical systems including diagnostics and basic troubleshooting. · Welding and fabrication experience, including the ability to safely perform structural and component welding required for upfitting. Experience with forklift, crane, and other heavy machine operation and safety protocols. · Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and manufacturer installation instructions. Basic math skills, including fractions and decimals. Valid driver’s license (CDL is a plus but not required). · Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality workmanship. Effective problem-solving and troubleshooting ability. Strong time management and ability to meet deadlines in a production-driven environment. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team. · Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and regulatory compliance. Preferred Experience Familiarity with PTO systems and hydraulics. OEM or dealership environment experience. Experience with Class 6–8 trucks, diesel engines, and/or heavy equipment. Familiarity with DOT compliance requirements and inspection standards. Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 75 lbs (occasionally). Frequent standing, bending, kneeling, and working in typical shop conditions. · Ability to safely use tools and equipment in a physically demanding environment. Work Environment Shop-based role within a diesel/heavy truck dealership. Exposure to noise, fumes, indoor/outdoor, and varying temperatures. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) required.
