Overview of the Sr. Mortgage Underwriter: The Sr. Mortgage Underwriter must have the ability to handle an underwriting volume during the peak season of 300-350 loans. Process roughly 20 files weekly (not including re-works for conditions being submitted). Determine eligibility by reviewing household income and loan details for MRB and MBS programs, ensuring accuracy and resolving discrepancies with originating agents and lenders. Verify loan data, underwriting findings, disclosures, and appraisals to ensure compliance with CFPB, RESPA, and agency guidelines. Communicate with stakeholders (lenders, agents, internal teams) to resolve deficiencies, gather documentation, and support timely loan processing and closing. Manage loan pipeline, review outstanding conditions, issue commitments and approvals, and handle exception requests within deadlines and rate lock requirements. Provide subject matter expertise, maintain professional relationships, support related teams, and assist with post-closing activities and issue resolution.
