The manager in collaboration with other department managers and hospital leadership aims to meet hospital strategic objectives that promote a safe and patient-focused work environment. Under general supervision, The Manager Cardiopulmonary Services directs, negotiates and coordinates the daily administrative and clinical activities and personnel of the Department of Respiratory and Cardiopulmonary Services to ensure optimal service. Key Responsibilities: Will oversee approximately 20 FTEs and will develop and achieve established hospital standards of care through effective staffing, budgeting, monitoring and evaluation of policies, procedures and objectives. Responsible for staff hiring, orientation, development and education of staff. The manager coaches, counsels, disciplines, recognizes and rewards staff performance and behaviors. Provides operational leadership for Respiratory and Cardiopulmonary functions, through implementation of protocols, policy, and action planning. Analyzes, develops, and implements methods and systems to improve overall efficiency and effectiveness of services. Responsible for equipment evaluation, care guidelines, quality improvement and clinical practice of staff, as well as maintain oversight of department finances, supply chain, productivity measurement, quality, competency, statutory and regulatory compliance. Actively participates in clinical committees and activities related to departmental operations. Recommends change in policy, programs and physical resources required to achieve the hospital’s objectives. This position reports to the CNO. Work Experience SKILLS & ABILITIES: To qualify for the position, the candidate must be a graduate of an accredited school of respiratory therapy, have successfully passed the Registry board examinations of the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) and be licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in the State of Maryland. Bachelor's Degree or equivalent years of experience. (Required) Master's Degree Master’s degree. (Preferred) Minimum Work Experience: 5 years post graduate experience in clinical aspects of respiratory care, including critical care required. Must possess at least 3 progress years of experience in an acute care facility. 5 years of supervisory/management experience required. Required Skills/Knowledge: Knowledge of Federal, State, and JC regulations/requirements. Demonstration of proficient skills for ventilator management required. Must have strong clinical evaluation skills. Licensures/Certifications/Registrations: Current Maryland RCP License or Maryland license eligibility prior to start date required. Job Requirements General Summary This role is considered the minimum role for all nurses who have greater than 12 months experience. Provides and coordinates independent care to patients within a clinical specialty as a fully effective and participative member of the multidisciplinary patient care services team.
