Job Summary Under the direction of a pharmacist, a pharmacy technician performs pharmacy-related functions in compliance with departmental policies and procedures and participates as an active member of the pharmacy team to provide pharmaceutical care for patients. Accurately completes the cart fill and code tray refills. Handles all controlled substances in compliance with regulations and policies. Demonstrates proficiency with work-related computer and automation skills through problem solving for automated dispensing cabinets, inventory management technology, label printers, unit dose packing machines, IV room automation, and other pharmacy-specific technologies. Accurately enters patient charges and credits as well. C ontributes to the financial and operational well-being of the institution through management of inventory systems both perpetual and manually maintained Shift/Site technical leadership at acute care sites with less than 350 registered acute care inpatient beds or less than 8 technicians (retail) Contributes to an efficient pharmacy work environment by providing excellent customer service to include, but not limited to answering the phone within three rings, servicing the pharmacy window in a timely and accurate manner, maintaining a clean and orderly work area, and being at work and prepared to start working at the beginning of each shift. Participates in training of new personnel and mentorship of new pharmacy technicians and pharmacy interns. Communicates with the physician and other work-related personnel appropriately. Performance of these duties and procedures requires independent judgment with ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for radiological diagnosis. Must possess the necessary skills to perform procedures for adolescent, adult and geriatric patients. Scans documents into RIS and identifies correct document type.Correctly puts exam on the Radiologist Worklist for interpretation by completing exam in RIS including additional charge items such as contrast media, etc. RIS Exceptions and Unspecified Exams in PACS: Monitors exceptions on the bottom of Technologist worklist specific for department section.Is able to match up simple RIS exceptions with RIS exception handler.If RIS exception handler can not be used and exams need to be matched up with PACS exam manager, promptly notifies a "Super-User" or Supervisor to complete PACS merges. Systems Issues / Request for System Help / After Hours - Weekend: Can identify non-urgent problems and completes the RIS/PACS Issue Reporting form in a timely manner. Can identify critical issues or issues that may delay patient care and promptly contacts the PACS Administrator or System Administrator. Adheres to RIS / PACS Protocols and Procedures.
