Key Responsibilities: Read and interpret weld symbols Weld steel parts for hulls, bulkheads, decks, and other marine structures. Proficiently perform flux-core welding based on job requirements. Ensure structural integrity of welds to precise dimensions. Maintain tools, equipment, and work area in clean, orderly condition. Collaborate with engineers, supervisors, and other trades and team members on troubleshooting. Follow all shipyard safety regulations and wear appropriate PPE including respirators, fall protection, and fire-resistant clothing. Work in confined spaces, at heights, and in various weather conditions as necessary. Document work performed and complete required job paperwork. Essential Skills: This position is 90% dual shield/FCAW and we are currently only seeking candidates with a strong skill set of dual shield/FCAW experience. Proven experience as a welder or similar role (typically 2 years). Proficient in reading and interpreting weld symbols. Strong understanding of metal types and welding techniques. Ability to lift and carry heavy materials (up to 50 lbs) and stand for long periods. Welding certification (e.g., AWS, ASME, WABO) is a plus. Physical and Environmental Demands: The work environment is a dynamic, fast-paced shipyard with moderate to loud noise levels due to ongoing production activities. Selected candidates will be responsible for maintaining primarily trailering equipment for a Fortune 500 package delivery company in a clean well-maintained environment. Responsibilities are, but limited to: · Preventative maintenance service and/or repair on trailers, dollies, and yard spotters · Perform routine service and annual inspections · Diagnose and repair anti-lock brake systems. · Electrical – air system trouble shooting. · Wheel & hub, heavy duty brake inspection and repair. · Trailer body repairs. · Suspension inspection and repairs.
