Promotes and administers annual Influenza and other vaccines to all co-workers working in the facility. Maintains knowledge of all immunizations being administered in order to communicate and assess contraindications to giving the vaccine, possible side effects, and precautions the co-worker should know about before taking any vaccine. Provides first aid to employees as necessary and works closely with co-workers following on the job injuries to provide quality care and follow up to injured workers. Communicates and works with departments, supervisors and team leaders regarding ill or injured co-workers as necessary. Works to return co-workers injured on the job to restricted duty. May serve as Workers' Compensation coordinator, depending on work location, following state commission rules and regulations. Responsible for the recording of injuries/illness according to regulatory agency guidelines; educating and informing injured employees and managers; facilitating medical treatment and return to work of the injured employee; communicating with the System Office, treating physicians, and legal counsel. Maintains strict confidentiality of co-workers regarding drug screens, illnesses, injuries and health records. Compiles annual and monthly reports and presents these reports to appropriate committees in order to assist these committees to comply with requirements of Joint Commission, The applicable state Department of Health and other government agencies. Keeps current on Co-worker Health related issues; adjusting policies and procedures as indicated to meet changes in requirements for co-workers working in a health care facility. Works with co-workers to promote committee guidance and education in multiple committees, i.e., wellness committee, needlestick safety and environmental safety. Overview The Lab Phlebotomist - Hospital performs venipuncture and skin puncture in the hospital setting. Demonstrates excellent communication and patient care skills. Qualifications Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA)American Heart Association (AHA), Education: H.S. Diploma/GED (Required), Work Experience: 6months phlebotomy experience or completion of Carle Phlebotomy in Training Program Responsibilities Performs a variety of routine and complex blood drawing procedures including but not limited to venipuncture, finger and heel sticks, and blood cultures.Ensure quality by verifying patient identification and specimen labeling.Maintains appropriate response times to stat and timed orders.Serves as part of the trauma and code response teams.Six (6) months phlebotomy experience or completion of the Carle Phlebotomy in Training Program.The Hospital Phlebotomy team services the patients at Carle Foundation Hospital. This team serves patients from newborn to geriatric in the Emergency Department and all inpatient and outpatient areas of the hospital. The Hospital Phlebotomy team works closely with a variety of healthcare professionals to collect blood specimens for diagnostic testing. The Hospital Phlebotomy team collects blood from approximately 400 patients each 24-hour period. Hospital Phlebotomists work every other weekend and 3-4 holidays per year and cover 1-2 call shifts each week. Patients and specimens are identified using two identifiers: Name/Date of Birth or Name/Medical Record Number. Venipunctures are performed using a vacutainer needle and hub, a hypodermic needle with syringe, or a butterfly needle system. Complex blood drawing procedures include a variety of specialized blood collection kits for commercial laboratories and/or research. Blood cultures collected at Carle require Chloroprep skin decontamination at the draw site and vary from collection of a simple tube collection for Acid Fast or Fungal cultures, a set of Bactec blood culture bottles, or involve nurse coordination for a single or multiple-lumen port collection. The inpatient and Emergency Department expectations for response times are that STAT tests will be collected within 15 minutes of order and TIMED tests will be collected within a 30 minute window of time around the specified collection time (up to 15 minutes before or 15 minutes after the time indicated). Phlebotomists collect initial blood specimens for all patients classified as a Trauma. Successfully participates in all accreditation and other proficiency testing and annual performance competencies in each of the clinical laboratory testing areas. Participates in re-education or re-training as needed to ensure successful completion of all Proficiency and competency testing. Follows and maintains familiarity with laboratory and organizational policies and procedures. Reviews and records documentation of review as required. Complete Continuing Education as required by Lab policy and to maintain certification if applicable. Registered Ultrasound Technologist

Position Objective: Performs ultrasound procedures for diagnostic evaluation of patients in accordance with established regulations, policies and procedures. Demonstrates proper use of computer by entering all pertinent information upon completion of procedure and adhering to confidentiality policy. Educational/Experience Requirements: Successful completion of a one-year program in Ultrasound Technology. Required License/Certifications: CPR certification is required. Certification in Physics, Abdomen-Pelvis, OB-GYN by the Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (RDMS) required. Recommend additional registry in one of the following: OB/GYN, neonatal hands, or vascular. ARRT Maryland license preferred. Mammography Technologist

Position Objective: Performs screening and diagnostic mammographic procedures in accordance with established ACR and FDA safety and quality standards and the special needs of patients. Constantly assesses patients condition during biopsy procedure, administers first aid as required, assists physicians in performing the biopsy procedure, administers post-biopsy care and provides explanation of post-biopsy care to patient. Performs necessary quality assurance testing on the Mammography equipment and maintains appropriate records as required. Confers with supervisor to recommend changes, report problems and provide feedback to improve patient care, technical quality, and clerical functions. Monitors supplies in assigned work area and notifies supervisor when shortages occur. Demonstrates knowledge of Universal Manager/Epic processes. Other duties as assigned: entering mammographic data, biopsy results, pending studies and mammography letters.
