Armored Multi-Purpose Vehicle Field Services Technician

STS Technical Services is seeking a highly skilled Armored Multi-Purpose Vehicle (AMPV) Field Services Technician for our client’s Anniston, Alabama location. This role requires an expert with extensive knowledge of the AMPV, including mechanical systems, air conditioning systems, hydraulic systems, electrical power management, automotive systems, fire control, weapons systems, remote weapons firing systems, and other subsystems. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to identify and troubleshoot faults, provide leadership and direction to field service teams, and train maintenance and administrative support personnel. Key Responsibilities: Travel to Military Bases: Conduct vehicle upgrades, modifications, inspections, repairs, services, and maintenance. Technical Guidance: Provide expert technical guidance to internal and external customers. Training: Train soldiers and support personnel on AMPV systems and maintenance. Data Management: Record and communicate complex field data to management. Communication: Ensure effective communication with government and military personnel at all ranks. Judgment: Exercise discretion and independent judgment in all tasks. Relationship Building: Develop and maintain professional relationships with customers and colleagues. Decision Making: Use sound judgment to make decisions while adhering to policies, procedures, and applicable laws and regulations. Required Skills: US Army Maintenance System Proficiency: Familiarity with US Army Maintenance system or Dealer Management Systems. Technical Interpretation: Ability to interpret and use engineering drawings, schematics, diagrams, and specification sheets. Work Instructions: Competence in reading, understanding, and following technical work instructions and modification work orders (MWOs). Computer Skills: Proficiency with computers for report writing, data management, and word processing. Tools and Equipment: Skilled in using hand and power tools, oscilloscopes, digital volt and ohm meters, diagnostic computers/software, lifting devices, and support equipment. Diagnostic Equipment: Familiarity with Test Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE) for automotive, electrical, electronic, and fire control systems. Self-Motivation: Ability to work with minimal supervision. Troubleshooting Expertise: Expertise in troubleshooting and repairing military track vehicles and power plants. Organizational Skills: Strong planning, time management, and organization skills. Interpersonal Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills for interfacing, coordinating, and negotiating with personnel, customers, and suppliers. Analytical Skills: Analytical skills to analyze and perform repairs. Communication Skills: Strong communication skills to serve as a point of contact, resolve conflicts, and effectively communicate both orally and in writing. Preferred Skills: Military Occupational Specialty (MOS): Feeder MOS: 91M, 63T, 45T, 63M, 91A, 63E, 45E, 91P, 63D, 45D, 91B, 63B, 63S. Security Clearance: Existing Secret Clearance. Armored Vehicle Experience: Experience with armored tracked vehicles. Heavy Equipment Experience: Experience in diagnosing, repairing, and servicing heavy equipment in the private sector. Experience Required: Field Service Experience: 3 to 5 years in a field service role, mobile mechanic, or heavy equipment mechanic/automotive technician. Experience Preferred: Extended Field Service Experience: 8 years in a field service role or as a mobile diesel mechanic. Dealership Experience: Dealership experience as a mechanic/technician. Quality Assurance: Quality assurance and vehicle inspection experience. Education Required: High School Diploma: High School Diploma or Equivalent. Education Preferred: OEM Training/ASE Certifications: Private sector OEM training or ASE certifications. Automotive Degree: Degree in Automotive Technology.
