Essential (Core Competencies) Duties Perform welds using stick and mig processes in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions. Current AWS D1. 1 SMAW 3G and AWS D1. 1 SMAW 4G certifications, AWS D1. 5 SMAW 3G and 4G preferred. Maneuver units into position for installation and anchor the units. Fabricate or alter parts using shears, hammers, punches, or drills. Assist foreman with proper layout for work to be put in place. Accurately measure and read height, width, length, and other proportions with a tape measure Use levels, rules, plumb bobs, framing squares, and lasers to ensure everything is level and secure.
