Overview The Mount Sinai Health System is seeking a full-time Family Medicine Physician to join its Harlem-based Institute for Advanced Medicine (IAM) practice. Role Summary: Mount Sinai seeks a Primary Care Physician to provide primary and preventive care within our interdisciplinary Institute for Advanced Medicine. The physician will collaborate on health care delivery to create an exceptional patient experience, with a focus on delivering the best patient care and experience possible. The physician will provide comprehensive primary care and prevention services to LGBTQ patients, with a focus on HIV prevention and care, including prescribing and managing HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP), ongoing care for patients living with HIV, and gender-affirming care including hormone therapy and related services for transgender patients. The physician will work at an IAM location within Manhattan. The ideal candidate will collaborate with other providers and administrative staff to ensure excellent patient care, quality outcomes, and patient satisfaction. Candidates should have a passion for primary care and be committed to the Mount Sinai Health System mission. Some evenings and weekends may be required as the practice develops. Prior experience in HIV primary care is highly encouraged. The chosen candidate will have the opportunity to partner with Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, whose mission integrates patient care, research, and education. Responsibilities Initially, your duties include, but are not limited to the following: Provides acute/urgent care of emergent/acute illnesses and injuries, including ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests. Provides medical services to the clinic patients, including all functions necessary to deliver quality medical care. See patients in a timely and efficient manner, aiming to stay reasonably on schedule. Diagnose and provide medical treatment; formulate treatment plans. Manage short and long-term conditions; perform comprehensive and focused physical examinations. Provide counseling and education on health maintenance, disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up as appropriate. Verify patient understanding of diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up recommendations. Facilitate access to medical care by referring to appropriate health care providers. Documentation of care: maintain timely medical records and billing codes; chart on the day of the visit; comply with HIPAA rules and regulations. Maintains and submits timely medical records and billing codes. Charting in the patient’s medical record is routinely completed on the same day as the visit. Practice using sound medical judgment and adhere to ethical standards; stay current with technologies and industry standards. Advise administration of issues impacting the practice; be flexible and adaptable; serve as a role model for staff. Qualifications Additional Skills and Qualities: Demonstrated problem-solving and workflow management skills. Good computer skills with experience in electronic health records and presentation software. Willingness to problem-solve and do what it takes to get the job done. Desire to be an integral part of a rapidly growing team dedicated to changing health care delivery. Compensation range: 225K to 246K (not including bonuses / incentive compensation or benefits).
