Client Details Our client is a full-service General Contractor/Construction Manager that has been in business for 15 years. This company, which is experiencing rapid growth, is renowned in the Greater Philadelphia area. Team members are valued beyond the projects, which contributes to the strong company culture. Our client is currently seeking a motivated Estimator to join their growing team who is looking to grow with the business. Description The Estimator will: • Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for civil construction projects including grading, earthwork, utilities, paving, and concrete. • Review and analyze construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents to determine project scope and pricing requirements. • Solicit, review, and evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids to ensure completeness, accuracy, and competitiveness. • Develop conceptual, preliminary, and final estimates throughout the preconstruction process. • Coordinate with project management, engineering, and operations teams to validate scope assumptions and construction means and methods. • Identify potential risks, cost drivers, and value-engineering opportunities within project designs. • Maintain estimating databases, historical cost data, and unit pricing to support accurate and consistent estimates. • Prepare bid summaries, clarifications, and supporting documentation for project leadership review. • Assist with change order pricing, budget revisions, and cost impact evaluations as required. • Support bid deadlines by managing multiple estimates simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail. • Participate in pre-bid meetings, site walks, and scope reviews as needed. • Communicate effectively with internal teams, subcontractors, and vendors throughout the estimating process. Profile The successful Estimator will have the following: • 6 years' experience in civil or commercial construction with a strong emphasis on estimating and preconstruction. • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field strongly preferred. • Proven experience preparing conceptual, preliminary, and detailed cost estimates for civil construction projects. • Strong working knowledge of earthwork, utilities, concrete, paving, and site development scopes. • Ability to perform accurate quantity takeoffs, pricing analysis, and cost modeling from construction documents. • Proficiency with estimating and takeoff software such as HCSS, Bluebeam, Trimble, or similar platforms. • Ability to read, interpret, and analyze construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents. • Experience soliciting subcontractor bids, conducting bid tabulations, and evaluating scopes for completeness and risk. • Understanding of market conditions, production rates, materials pricing, and labor costs. • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail. • Familiarity with construction safety standards and OSHA requirements preferred. • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with operations, preconstruction, and leadership teams.
