Perfect time to join a growing company Job Details The Lead BMS Controls Technician is a hands-on technical leader responsible for executing, commissioning, and supporting Building Management Systems (BMS), Power Monitoring Systems (PMS/EPMS), and environmental monitoring solutions in commercial and mission-critical facilities. This role is field-focused and execution-driven. The individual filling this position owns system functionality from installation support through commissioning and turnover, and ensures systems operate reliably. The role blends controls programming, system integration, and deep troubleshooting across mechanical, electrical, and low-voltage systems. Core Responsibilities BMS, Power & Environmental Systems Execution Assist in the installation, configuration and commissioning of BMS/HVAC control systems. Assist in configuring and supporting Power Monitoring / EPMS systems, including meters, gateways, and networked electrical devices. Integrate environmental monitoring systems including temperature, humidity, differential pressure, and leak detection. Configure points, alarms, trends, dashboards, and notifications across BMS and power platforms. Support integration of third-party systems via multiple protocols. Cabling, Devices & Field Integration Support and validate low-voltage controls and monitoring cabling (BACnet, Modbus, Ethernet, RS-485, sensor wiring). Coordinate and verify installation of temperature sensors, humidity sensors, water/leak detection cable, flow devices, and power meters. Troubleshoot signal, polarity, termination, grounding, and communication issues. Validate device addressing, calibration, and data accuracy. Startup, Commissioning & Validation Lead point-to-point checks, functional testing, and system startup for BMS, power, and environmental systems. Validate control sequences, alarm thresholds, and trending through live testing. Support integrated systems testing in coordination with electrical contractors, mechanical contractors, and commissioning agents. Identify and resolve issues related to controllers, sensors, meters, networks, and gateways. Technical Leadership & Coordination Serve as the primary onsite technical lead for controls, power monitoring, and environmental systems. Coordinate with electricians, low-voltage installers, mechanical contractors, and facility teams. Provide real-time technical guidance to technicians during installation and startup. Act as escalation support for system or integration issues. Documentation & Quality Control Maintain accurate redlines, as-built documentation, point lists, and programming notes. Verify all monitoring points, alarms, and trends are functional and meaningful. Support system handoff to operations and service teams with clean documentation. Ensure systems meet customer standards and are ready for long-term, 24x7 operation. Experience & Skill Requirements 3–5 years hands-on experience with BMS / BAS / HVAC controls Strong familiarity with power monitoring, EPMS, and electrical metering concepts Experience working with environmental monitoring systems (leak detection, temperature, humidity, pressure) Solid understanding of HVAC equipment and mechanical room systems Proven field experience with commissioning and troubleshooting live systems Working knowledge of: o BACnet/IP, Modbus, SNMP, RS-485, Ethernet o Controller programming, graphics, and databases o Electrical and low-voltage fundamentals Interested in hearing more?
