Complete all repairs according to manufacturer specifications and company quality standards. Perform DOT inspections and ensure all vehicles remain compliant with federal and state regulations. Repair and replace components including brakes, tires, wheel seals, lighting, air systems, and hydraulic components. Maintain accurate maintenance records, including detailed work orders and parts usage documentation. Respond to and complete roadside service calls and emergency repairs when required. Keep a clean, organized, and safe shop work environment. Communicate repair recommendations and equipment status clearly to management and drivers. Oversee dump truck certifications and track preventative maintenance completions. Qualifications Experience: 3–5 years of diesel mechanic experience required (5–7 years preferred). Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; technical/vocational training in diesel technology preferred. Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of diesel engines, air brake systems and electrical systems. Diagnostics: Experience using electronic diagnostic software and computerized troubleshooting tools. Licensing: Valid driver's license required; CDL (Commercial Driver's License) preferred but not required. Documentation: Ability to read and interpret repair manuals, wiring schematics, and technical service bulletins. Bonus Skills: Welding and fabrication experience is a strong plus. Physical Requirements Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 75 pounds. Ability to stand, bend, kneel, crawl, and work in tight spaces or various weather conditions. Operate, monitor and control equipment or systems to diagnose and perform repairs on equipment Inspect equipment to determine if additional work is required. Ability to remain stationary, position or traverse equipment to properly diagnose repairs. Also be able to position parts up to 50 pounds into place for proper installation. Save and tag parts per factory warranty guidelines if a warranty repair. Create parts list for required repairs. Read and understand electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic schematics and drawings. Notify Service Manager and Service Writer if additional work is required or items listed on service order are not needed. Notify Service Manager and Service Writer if repairs cannot be completed within time frame promised. Supervise work of apprentice technicians as assigned. Maintain 90% billable hours. Must be able to perform basic fabrication jobs such as cutting, measuring, torching, welding, etc. Keep shop and/or service truck work space clean. Keep up to date with factory training, tech tips and service bulletins. Follow all company safety policies and procedures, report any safety issues and accidents to manager. QUALIFICATIONS: 2-5 years of mechanical experience working on hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems, or heavy equipment maintenance experience. Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot equipment systems. Ability to identify component failures, worn or damaged parts, and must be able to perform quality repairs. Ability to work well with customers as well as internal staff. Ability to obtain a class B license within 120 days after hire date. Must have and maintain a clean driving record. Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs. Must be able to stand, stoop, squat and sit for long periods of time as repair requires. Must be able to work overhead for extended periods of time. Must be able to push and/or pull with up to 25lbs of pressure. Ability to grasp and hold tools with both hands as repair requires. Preferred Skills/Abilities: 5 years of mechanical experience working on hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems, or heavy equipment maintenance experience.
