Reviews and transmits images and information using picture archiving and communications systems. Communicates examination results and diagnostic information to referring physicians, patients, and families. Evaluates medical information to determine patients? risk factors (such as allergies to contrast agents) and to make decisions regarding the appropriateness of procedures. Provides counseling to radiologic patients to explain the processes, risks, benefits, and alternative treatments. Confers with medical professionals regarding image-based diagnoses. Coordinates radiological services with other medical activities. Documents performance, interpretation, and outcomes of procedures performed. Establishes and enforces standards for protection of patients and staff. Develops and monitors procedures to ensure adequate quality control of images. Administers radiopaque substances by injection, orally, and as enemas to render internal structures and organs visible on x-ray films and fluoroscopic screens. Recognizes and treats complications during and after procedures including blood pressure problems, pain, over-sedation, and bleeding. Treats malignant internal and external growths by exposure to radiation from radiographs (x-rays), high-energy sources, and natural and synthetic radioisotopes. Participates in continuing education activities to maintain and develop expertise. Participates in quality improvement activities including discussions of areas where risk of error is high. Implements protocols in areas such as drugs, resuscitation, emergencies, power failures, and infection control. We provide this service one or two Saturdays per month, ensuring there is no conflict with your current professional schedule. Each clinic day typically runs from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, depending on the number of scheduled evaluations. PERTINENT INFORMATION As the provider, you will provide disability examinations and evaluations that primarily test the claimant’s function and range of motion.
