Director of Finance

The Director of Finance is a mission-critical business partner to the CEO and Executive Leadership Team. This leader drives a high-performance finance function that is trusted, scalable, and future-ready. They set the tone for a culture of accuracy, accountability, customer-centricity, and strategic partnership. This role manages all FP&A, accounting, compliance, working capital, AR/collections, asset management, and financial operations across all North American operations for DSI (Diagnostica Stago, Inc.), SCL (Stago Canada Ltd.), and DSRV. This is not a back-office controller role. This is a dynamic, enterprise-wide influencer who ensures that finance accelerates decisions, removes friction, and empowers commercial performance. The Director of Finance builds a team that sees the department with clarity, insight, and strategic enablement. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Financial Operations & Accounting Excellence • Prepare and overseeing financial statements and monthly reporting to headquarters. • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closings with zero defects and predictable timelines. • Oversee AP, AR, collections, credit, cash planning, and treasury functions. • Own general ledger integrity, revenue recognition, fixed assets, depreciation, accruals, and compliance with GAAP and internal controls. • Direct the preparation of financial reports and financial analysis. • Maintain banking relationships, ensure liquidity management, and safeguard company assets. FP&A, Budgeting & Strategic Analytics • Direct annual budget development, forecasting cycles, and scenario modeling. • Build and modernize planning tools to drive transparency, speed, and alignment. • Deliver strategic insights to guide pricing, deal structures, capital investments, service models, and resource allocation. • Provide timely variance analysis with actionable recommendations. This is not just reporting, but insight generation. Commercial Finance Leadership • Oversee the financial review, risk evaluation, and approval of all commercial contracts, RFPs, pricing structures, and promotional campaigns. • Partner with Sales to accelerate deal cycles, support pricing decision, and provide real-time financial insights that drive profitable growth while maintaining contract compliance and margin discipline. • Monitor and drive improvements in working capital, AR/collections, DSO, inventory turns, and credit exposure. Operational Finance & Cross-Functional Enablement • Build frameworks that give the business clarity on cost structure, profitability drivers, and financial impacts of operational decisions. • Provide decision support for operational leaders across service, supply chain, and field operations. • Ensure IT-Finance partnership to maintain secure, scalable, compliant financial systems. Develop & Maintain a High-Performance Finance Organization • Develop a confident, accountable, collaborative finance team that delivers high-accuracy outputs on time, every time. • Coach, mentor, and upskill staff to modernize financial discipline, analytical capability, and compliance rigor. • Create a culture where people surface issues early, solve cross-functional challenges proactively, and communicate clearly to internal customers. • Ensure timely & appropriate Recruitment, training, and developing department personnel. Governance, Compliance & Financial Control • Ensure flawless execution of accounting operations, internal controls, and regulatory compliance, aligned with Stago’s global control environment. • Serve as the financial conscience of the organization, balancing speed with fiduciary responsibility. • Lead internal and external audits, ensuring timely and accurate responses, documentation, and remediation. Increase financial literacy across the business through proactive communication, education, and transparent analytics. Influence the broader organization by modeling accountability, transparency, data-driven decision-making, and cross-functional partnership. Conduct review of OPEX and CAPEX spending by department, including review and controlling of key vendor contracts. Access to compensation information is necessary in order to perform the appropriate finance function or other routinely assigned business tasks. The functions of this position include protecting and maintaining the privacy of employee personal information, including compensation Maintain regular reporting and communication with Stago Group CFO / Stago HQ finance. Collaborates with Stago HQ on Finance projects and special topics In collaboration with IT team, ensure financial system is stable and meets business needs, and financial records are accurate and safe guarded accordingly. Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field required; MBA or advanced degree preferred. 7–10 years of progressive financial leadership experience required; prior Director-level experience strongly preferred. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred. Valid drivers license and passport required.
