The ideal candidate will have experience representing contractors, developers, owners, design professionals, and other construction industry clients in disputes involving construction defects, contract claims, delays, payment disputes, mechanic's liens, and related matters. Candidates with experience drafting and negotiating construction contracts and advising clients on project-related risk management are also encouraged to apply. Very flexible hybrid schedule Responsibilities: Represent clients in construction-related litigation, arbitration, and mediation matters Manage all phases of litigation, including pleadings, discovery, depositions, motion practice, hearings, and trial preparation Handle construction defect, delay, disruption, breach of contract, payment, and professional liability disputes Draft, review, and negotiate construction contracts and related project documentation Advise clients on project risk management, dispute avoidance, and construction-related legal issues Manage mechanic's lien, bond, and payment claims Develop and maintain strong client relationships Collaborate with attorneys across multiple practice areas on complex matters Participate in business development and practice growth initiatives Qualifications: J.D. from an accredited law school Licensed and in good standing in Illinois or eligible for admission 4-7 years of experience for Associate candidates and 8 years for Director/Partner candidates Experience in construction law, commercial litigation, or other complex litigation matters Strong writing, analytical, and advocacy skills Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines in a fast-paced environment Preferred Qualifications: Experience handling construction litigation, arbitration, and dispute resolution matters Familiarity with AIA contracts and construction project documentation Experience with mechanic's liens, construction defect claims, delay claims, and payment disputes Experience representing contractors, developers, owners, architects, or engineers Portable business is welcomed for senior-level candidates but is not required Interested in hearing more?
