Competitive benefits Job Details This position reports to the Senior Short Term Planning Engineer and is responsible for managing and maintaining the surveying functions of both open pit and underground mining operations. The role ensures accurate mapping, record-keeping, and supports operational safety and engineering planning. It is based at a mining project site located in the southwestern United States. Key Responsibilities: Conduct site surveys to map and define mining areas. Use advanced surveying tools (e.g., GPS, GIS) to gather and analyze data. Provide CAD support for field investigations, drafting, and design work. Develop and update detailed site maps and plans. Evaluate geological and safety risks in mining zones. Track and monitor mining progress, ensuring operations stay within planned boundaries. Measure extracted materials and note structural or environmental changes. Supply data for feasibility studies and excavation planning. Work closely with engineering teams to coordinate operations. Maintain survey records and generate reports. Ensure compliance with all safety and regulatory standards. Research ways to improve data collection and processing efficiency. Implement risk management protocols. Review data and reports for accuracy before submission. Train and mentor junior staff. Monitor field changes for consistency and documentation. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Mining, Civil Engineering, or related field. 3 years of experience in mine surveying. Licensed Land Surveyor (state licensure required).
