Project Manager (Self-perform Carpentry)

An established General Contractor headquartered in the Milwaukee Suburbs, we are looking for an experienced Project Manager to join our Self-perform Team. This Jobot Job is hosted by: Collin Walsh Are you a fit? Easy Apply now by clicking the "Apply" button and sending us your resume. Salary: $100,000 - $140,000 per year A bit about us: We are a well-established, full-service general contractor with deep roots spanning decades in the commercial construction industry. We handle the full spectrum of project delivery — from pre-construction planning, design/build, and budgeting, through construction management, self-performed work (including demolition, concrete, carpentry, and drywall/steel-studs), and project close-out. Our philosophy is simple: treat every project as if it were our own, delivering functional, high-quality spaces that meet our clients’ vision while staying on schedule and within budget. We take pride in long-term relationships with clients, a commitment to craftsmanship, and a relentless focus on doing “anything less than exceptional” is unacceptable. Why join us? Comprehensive compensation package that includes a company vehicle, full benefits (medical, dental, vision), 401K matching, company profit sharing, 3 weeks starting PTO, cell phone stipend, gym membership and more. The opportunity to lead and directly influence high-quality, self-performed work — from rough carpentry to drywall and finish interior elements. Work with a team that values integrity, workmanship, and collaboration. Exposure to a variety of project types (commercial, industrial, institutional) and diverse construction work. A role that blends hands-on craft knowledge with project leadership and management responsibilities. Job Details Key Responsibilities: Plan, schedule, and manage in-house carpentry, drywall, framing, and interior trades from preconstruction through closeout. Coordinate self-perform scope with subcontracted trades and subcontractors — ensuring smooth sequencing and minimal conflicts. Monitor and direct self-perform crew activities daily: assign tasks, supervise workmanship, ensure adherence to drawing/spec requirements, and enforce quality control. Maintain project schedules and budgets; identify and mitigate risks or delays — particularly those involving self-perform work. Manage logistics for materials, labor, equipment and site conditions for self-perform scopes. Serve as the primary field point-of-contact for clients, architects, engineers, and subcontractors regarding self-perform trades. Ensure compliance with safety policies and standards on site, and promote a culture of safety, craftsmanship, and accountability. Provide status reports: progress of self-performed work, coordination with other scopes, and overall project milestones. Qualifications: 5 years of project management or construction supervision experience — specifically in carpentry, framing, drywall, or interior build-out work. Strong hands-on knowledge of carpentry, metal stud framing, drywall installation & finishing, and interior construction sequences. Proven ability to manage crews directly and coordinate in-house trades along with subcontractors. Skilled at scheduling, resource allocation (labor, materials, equipment), and cost control. Excellent communication and collaboration skills — able to liaise effectively with clients, design teams, subcontractors, and in-house crews. Commitment to quality craftsmanship, safety, and project integrity. Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and construction documents. Problem-solving mindset and flexibility to adapt to evolving project needs. Interested in hearing more? Easy Apply now by clicking the "Apply" button. Jobot is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
