General Manager - Avista Resort (North Myrtle Beach)
Position Overview: The Avista Resort Resort is seeking an experienced, strategic, and people-focused GeneralManager to lead our dynamic oceanfront property located in the heartof North Myrtle Beach. This resort boasts two lazy rivers, three pools, multiple hottubs, children's pools, an onsite restaurant and bar, and a welcomingenvironment for both overnight guests and local walk-in traffic. As General Manager, you will be responsible for all day-to-day operations, ensuring an exceptionalguest experience while maximizing profitability and operational efficiency. Youwill provide leadership across all departments— Food & Beverage, Engineering, Housekeeping, and Front Desk —and oversee critical functionssuch as budgeting, inventory, revenue management, and staffdevelopment. Hiring locallypreferably. Key Responsibilities: Operational Leadership Oversee and coordinate allresort departments, ensuring efficient and high-quality service delivery. Develop and implement standardoperating procedures (SOPs) across departments to ensure consistency andexcellence, in alignment with corporate standards. Ensure that all resortamenities, including pools, lazy rivers, and hot tubs are well maintainedand compliant with safety regulations. Collaborate with departmentheads to drive accountability and continuous improvement. Guest Experience &Service Excellence Champion a culture of guestsatisfaction by ensuring service excellence at all guest touchpoints. Monitor guest feedback, onlinereviews, and service scores to identify trends and develop action plansfor improvement. Maintain a visible andapproachable presence throughout the resort to ensure personalized guest,homeowner and vendor interactions. Excellent working knowledge ofPMS and staff mentorship of the same. Financial &Revenue Management Lead budget management andmonthly financial reviews to ensure revenue goals and cost targets aremet. Manage resort inventory,including rooms and F&B, ensuring accurate tracking and efficientpurchasing strategies. Oversee revenue managementstrategies in collaboration with corporate or internal teams to maximizeADR and occupancy. Food & BeverageOversight Ensure seamless operation ofthe on-site restaurant and bar, which serves both resort guests and localwalk-in traffic. Collaborate with the F&Bmanager on menu planning, food safety compliance, staffing, and servicetraining. Staff Leadership &Development Hire, train, mentor, andevaluate department heads and resort staff to build a strong and motivatedteam. Lead regular managementmeetings and provide coaching to promote accountability and collaboration. Promote a respectful and safework environment that complies with all federal, state, and local laborregulations. Facilities &Safety Management Partner with the EngineeringDepartment to ensure all facilities are safe, clean, and maintained tohigh standards. Oversee compliance with healthand safety codes, emergency procedures, and environmental sustainabilitypractices. Ensure timely completion ofwork tickets in compliance with corporate standards. Oversee accurate billing,reimbursements and excellent working knowledge of all Engineeringsoftware. Qualifications: 5 years of experience as aGeneral Manager or senior operationsleader in a full-service hotel or resort. Proven track record of managingmultiple departments, driving revenue, and achieving high guestsatisfaction. Strong leadership,communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to buildeffective teams. Expertise in budget management,P&L analysis, forecasting, and inventory control. Familiarity with hospitalitysoftware platforms (PMS, POS, inventory and revenue management systems). Knowledge of Myrtle Beachhospitality trends is a plus. Work Environment &Expectations: Full-time, on-site leadershiprole. Must be available to work flexiblehours including weekends, holidays, and evenings as needed. This is a hands-on leadershiprole requiring physical presence throughout the property and involvementin day-to-day operations.
