Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Overview for CFO: A rapidly growing, acquisition-focused mechanical services organization is seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join its executive leadership team. This individual will play a critical role in driving financial strategy, operational excellence, and long-term growth initiatives as the company continues to expand through acquisition and organic growth. The CFO will serve as a key business partner to executive leadership, helping guide strategic decision-making, improve financial processes, integrate acquisitions, and develop scalable systems to support future growth. This is an opportunity for a hands-on leader who can balance high-level strategy with operational execution. Responsibilities of CFO: Financial Leadership & Reporting Lead the overall finance and accounting functions for the organization. Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes. Review financial statements, journal entries, variance analyses, and supporting schedules. Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting packages for executive leadership. Manage cash flow, forecasting, working capital, and overall financial performance. Lead annual budgeting and forecasting processes. Strategic Planning & Business Partnership Partner with executive leadership on growth initiatives, pricing strategies, and market expansion opportunities. Provide financial insights and recommendations that drive profitability and operational efficiency. Participate as a key member of the executive leadership team, helping shape the organization's long-term vision and strategy. Develop KPIs and reporting tools that support data-driven decision-making. Mergers & Acquisitions Support acquisition strategy, including financial due diligence, integration planning, and post-acquisition optimization. Assist with the evaluation of acquisition opportunities and financial modeling. Lead financial integration efforts as new businesses are added to the organization. Process Improvement & Technology Drive continuous improvement initiatives across finance and accounting functions. Lead ERP implementation and system enhancement initiatives. Identify opportunities to leverage automation, AI, and technology to improve efficiency and scalability. Evaluate current financial processes and implement best practices to support future growth. Leadership & Team Development Mentor and develop accounting and finance team members. Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Build organizational capabilities to support rapid growth and increasing complexity. Qualifications Required Previous CFO, VP of Finance, or senior finance leadership experience. Strong background in financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and cash flow management. Experience supporting or leading mergers and acquisitions activities. Proven ability to operate as a strategic business partner to executive leadership. Strong leadership, communication, and team development skills. Self-starter with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment. Preferred CPA designation. Experience within HVAC, mechanical services, construction, field services, or related industries. Experience in private equity-backed or acquisition-focused organizations. ERP implementation experience. Experience leveraging AI, automation, and technology to improve finance operations.
