Pittsburgh Regional Transit is seeking a Senior Engineering Technician to provide engineering technical support for Port Authority of Allegheny County d/b/a Pittsburgh Regional Transit (PRT)’s civil, electrical, mechanical and facilities engineers and/or architects and others as directed by the managing engineer in areas of engineering and architectural design, PRT Systems, plan preparation, design review, specification development, construction inspection and monitoring contract progress for the Operations Division. Essential Functions: • Provides specification development services for building, rail, bus, non-revenue vehicle, shop equipment, facilities equipment, and new purchase/service contracts. Services to include market research, technical specification preparation, cost estimating, purchasing support, and technical bid reviews. • Performs field inspections including monitoring and coordination of contractors and consultants and maintains accurate records pertaining to design and construction progress, schedules, costs, quality control, work activities, conditions, and as-built documents. • Manage, schedule, and coordinate the facility quarterly and annual fire protection and detection system testing and the five-year hydrostatic testing of the subway and tunnel fire standpipe systems. Oversee the consultant and contractor activities related to the successful completion and reporting of these tests. Job requirements include: • Associate’s degree or two (2) years of college in engineering technology, architectural technology, construction technology, or related field from an accredited college or university.
